Our child began attending Zion in preschool and is now junior high age. We chose Zion because it offers a strong academic, Christian education. Although we are a different faith, this school has worked well for us. We have always felt welcome there. The small class sizes ensure that each student receives enough individual attention in order to succeed. Zion has plenty of things to offer. Our child has taken piano lessons, been in a book reading club, and participated in musicals. He has also played on the basketball, soccer and track teams. Enrolling our child at Zion has been one of the best decisions that our family has made. We feel that our son will be well-prepared for high school.

My husband and I have two children currently attending Zion Lutheran School Beecher, IL. Both started at Zion in preschool. We are products of Catholic schooling, but were pleased to learn Zion welcomes children of all faiths. The Christ based interaction of Zion has formed servant hearts in both of our children. Pastor Rock and Pastor Moldenhauer are outstanding role models for students of all ages. The intimate class sizes, well rounded academia, and dedicated teaching staff are just a few of the reasons we`ve stayed. The school offers MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing three times a year as well as an accelerated reading program. Our daughter receives piano instruction from Mrs. Rebekah Meissner, as part of Zion`s piano program. Mrs. Meissner has taken our daughter`s talent to an amazing level and we will be forever grateful. Our son loves sports and is able to participate in the sports of his choice; soccer, basketball, as well as track. At Zion, all grade appropriate students in good academic standing are part of the team. Zion also offers community service projects and art enrichment. Zion has much to offer its students academically and socially.

My children have attended Zion for nearly 6 years. We have been extremely pleased with the academic excellence, small class size and Christian atmosphere offered. My husband and I have had many interactions with the principal and have nothing but positives to say about him. He is caring, kind, diplomatic and a genuine human being. The teachers are compassionate, professional and it's obvious that they love teaching. They offer a sports program (including intramurals), community service opportunities, academic competitions (quiz bowl, spelling bee) and fun and educational field trips at each grade level. Members vs. nonmembers of Zion Lutheran Church pay a different tuition rate, but financial assistance is available and tuition rates are very competitive with other private and parochial schools in the area. We have been blessed to have Zion close enough to our home for our children to attend.

My daughter is finishing up her second year at Zion and we have nothing but good things to say about this school. She attended pre-K with Mrs. Estby last year and kindergarten this year with Mrs. Cooper. Both teachers are kind, yet make the kids "toe the line". Academics are strong and the teachers are very approachable with any questions you might have. They have music, art, computer classes in addition to their regular academics. There are 15 students in my daughters kindergarten class. Our family is non-parishioners, so we do pay more in tuition but we feel the money has been well spent. Parents are encouraged to volunteer/participate with class projects and field trips. My daughter loves going to school everyday and I feel it is because of the teachers she had/has. As for the previous comments regarding the principal, I haven't had any issues with him in the two years we have attended this school. He is out in the hall interacting with the parents every morning when the kids are being dropped off. We would send our daughter there next year but we are moving out of state.

Our family pulled out our children from the school. The principal was the problem we encountered. He was not straight forward and somewhat deceptive, with an odd passive aggressive personality. The school has a lot of potential, it just needs better leadership. So make sure this is someone you can work with before you enroll your children there.

My daughter went from 6th through 8th grade and my son is attending 7th grade this year. My husband and I love this school, it's staff, and it's curriculum. It is worth EVERY penny! (We ARE church members)Small class sizes.(My daughter was one of nine 8th grade grads) Plenty of one on one time for your children.

Zion Lutheran School is great idea which has not yet come to fruition. Senior pastor great guy, associate pastor dedicated & kind. But they don't run the school. Principal operates without much oversight. If you interview here, ask about retention. If they don't have that info, ask why not. Non-church members pay more $, have less pull. Some teachers great, others see asking for help as sign of weakness. Many teach 2 grades at once. Your student's grade gets 50 percent of her time. Already enrolled? Use email system and get everything in writing. Parents, kids are great. Why hasn't this school grown? Lack of leadership.

This is a great school! The teachers are able to give individual time to every child and the results of how well Zion grads do in high school speak for themselves with many in the top of their class and National Honor Society. The leadership is fantastic too. The principal is personable and really cares about the students and their families.

I love the one on one my child gets! She is a name not a number at Zion.

This school has fabulous teachers and a wonderful principal. Our child is thriving here. We are so blessed to have this school nearby so that our children can have a Christian education.
