Illinois Lutheran provided me a strong academic background for college, and an even better foundation for my faith. Biblical classes are taught and Christian values are shared in every aspect from the classroom to the court. Teachers take an interest in their students, and all students are valued. The environment is safe and is like a family. The school is small, but also provides plenty of opportunities to try out for sport or extracurriculars. I was very pleased with my experience at ILS, and thankful for being a part of the ILS family. I am happy to share the tradition with my own children.

Just recently moved to Crete and we decided as a family to send our son to ILHS after taking a tour & meeting w/ the principal. He came from public schools, so he's had a taste of both world's now & we can't say enough good things about ILHS! Our son is now succeeding in most of his studies while getting the chance to learn more about god. He's back in sports doing well and Taryn the recruitment director has been nothing but accommodating & amazingly helpful. I never thought my son would love going to school but he does now!

What a blessing this school has been for me and my family. I graduated from ILHS in 2001, and now both of my children attend. I couldn't have imagined how connected I would remain to the school, and I thank God for this ministry in our community. The faculty is wonderful, the administration is comprised up of good Christian leaders, and the school climate is one of family and togetherness. Christ remains the center of their ministry every day and it shows. If you're looking for a place to send your son or daughter don't hesitate to contact me. I'd be more than happy to chat about ILS!

I have 2 daughters that attended Illinois Lutheran from kindergarten thru HS & are now in college. They are both doing excellent in college and have earned honors for their academic skills which were honed by the wonderful teachers & curriculum that holds students to a very high standard.Contrary to a previous comment, I have found absolutely no negativity toward other religions in the 16 years that I have been involved as a parent. In fact I was warmly welcomed by all even though I was a Catholic and was even invited to help coach a couple of sports! I am so grateful for the education that my daughters received there that I actually joined the school board AFTER they graduated so that I can try to bring the same opportunity to others!It's true that they can't afford to provide all the programs that other schools can but what they do provide that others can't is an absolutely top notch education coupled with no nonsense discipline so that every student is held to the same high standard to prepare these young adults for college!!!

I am a parent who has sent 2 children though this school. You must first understand that this is a religious school and religion is heavily concentrated upon. This is especially true in the Jr High years when the "members" are concentrating upon their Church Confirmation. It is not an open religious environment. They strongly believe in their own faith and strongly teach that faith and that faith only. Make sure you understand their faith. Educationally, they are not the highest level. They are also not at the lowest level. If you want your child to take all AP level coursework and apply to Ivy Leagues - there are better places. If your child struggles and needs special help - there are better places. However, they are solid in middle of the road traditional education. Both of my children were accepted and thrive at 4 year Universities. Overall, their classwork concentrates on traditional subjects. There are not many electives available and their sports and extra-curriculars are bare bones. The school, as with all small organizations, can be clique-y and adverse to outsiders. However, I'd choose it again over local public options for my children any day of the week.

To parents or future students interested in attending this private school I highly recommend doing it. I apologize on behalf of the review who speak negatively either from a poor experience or pure ignorance. I myself attended ILHS and can only speak highly of the environment. This school stresses education and COLLEGE which is often less reinforced throughout this area. Values are stressed heavily from the Christian background, which should be the case since it is a religiously focused school. I didn't believe the same religious practice, but I respected their beliefs. The saying "know your environment" is applicable. I'm not here either to neglect the public system, which is good if the effort is put forth. In this small school you'll benefit for academical reasons, because the effort is required to succeed. The teachers are tough but they want to see success in every single student. There not just trying to finish the school year, but trying to inspire the next generation. My friends came from all walks of life and this school provided possibilities that the public school wouldn't have allowed in sports, clubs, and the relationships. r

This school has a variety of sports for your student to be involved in, such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball and cheerleading. This is a small school where everyone knows each other. The Spanish program is phenomenal and I personally have learned a lot. In regard to previous comments, a student will only receive what he or she is willing to work for. It is your job as a parent to raise your kids and teach them right/wrong. So, instead of pushing that responsibility on the school system, be a good parent and do it yourself. Overall I gave this school 5 stars because I have learned a lot from going there. I have many friendships there that I hope will last a lifetime.

I personally as a student here actually enjoy this school half the time. i mean yes, it has its flaws but what school doesnt. its a small religious school, so yes if you sign up for that there is going to be religious teachings there. if you complain about religion teachings at a religious school, then your stupid. also with being so small it kindve hard to get full teams sometimes but we always work with what we have. we always have fun becuase we're like on big family. no one gets in these huge fights with each other and there are barely any rivalries. the diversity of the school is lacking but thats totally fine becuase you all become really good friends anyway, youdont even recognize that. as for college, BOY are they big on that! your sophomore year they schedule a meeting with you about that to help you out and it doesnt even stop there. the teachers really care although they may seem bratty sometimes, individually they just want you to try. it all comes down to what kind of person you are and what you're willing to put up with :)
