We’ve been having such a wonderful experience with our older son, who is now in second grade after starting at the school in kindergarten. The teachers truly are fantastic and have made us feel so welcomed, especially as a Hispanic family. It’s heartening to see our son thriving—he’s not only proficient in math and science but also eager to learn more, and we’re proud that he’s currently bilingual.Whenever we have questions or want to engage more deeply, the school always encourages us and provides the time and space to do so. It’s great to be part of our children’s growth, and we genuinely appreciate how the school fosters parental involvement. The extracurricular activities keep our son engaged, and it’s wonderful to see how the school challenges those who are eager to learn. We’re also grateful for the public transportation options, which make for a safe and convenient commute. The facility itself is well-maintained, creating a warm and inviting environment where kids can make friends. Overall, we feel fortunate to be part of such a supportive community.

These negative reviews are from years ago and I'm sorry they've had such a hard experience. I have been involved at the school since 2018 and currently have 3 children there. I've been heavily involved with the PTO and the current admin has been extremely supportive of our initiatives to cultivate creative learning opportunities and a strong sense of community through events, clubs, field trips, etc. Our community is a diverse and generous one. As far as teachers go, our family's experience has been all positive. I do hear other opinions sometimes, but I think that's to be expected - not every teacher is a perfect fit for every student. Admin welcomes parent input and questions. I'm maybe not in love with some things I've seen with the school district, but overall we've had a great experience at Oak Hills. My children have been happy learning there.

My kid goes to oak hills elementary and I think it's a fantastic school with very supportive teachers. My kindergarten kid started reading very fluently in less than 6 months of attending school, that too distant learning and absolutely no help from us apart from encouragement.I do not understand what all the negative reviews are all about, maybe only people who had bad experiences came and wrote reviews that's why I stopped by to take a moment to leave my positive experience. We ( both parents) are engineers by profession and are very well-read, so I very well understand the importance of education and I am in no way biased. I have friends whose kids are going to nearby schools ( Jacob Wismer/Findley etc) so i did get a chance to evaluate ( not compare) how teachers and handling the same subjects/matters/knowledge transfer and Oakhills is nowhere behind, but in fact a step or two better academically. While I understand that all kids do not have the same abilities I feel this school does a good job providing a challenging and safe environment for majority of the population.

Its a great school. It has great after school programs but only thing which i didn't like about this school is communication.Teachers are not communicating whats going into the classroom. You get no idea whats your kids are doing in classroom.Other thing HW is very less.Kids who has potential to do but teachers are not providing HW to them.I tink school needs to work on this part. But otherwise its a great school and great community.

I'm pretty upset about the principal. She's not the right person to handle situations about children who did something wrong or have problems. She kept our child after school a whole hour in office while she had drawing class, what's very important for my child. And by this our money is waisted because of her. Live is already expensive enough. I believe more in the school counselor her way of handling situations with children. She left a much better emprassion behind on me.

2015 -2016 Oak Hills school is horrible. They cancel many buses for students getting to school and back. Now its a big, big mess around Bethany Blvd neighborhood. It's just a beginning. Stupid Principal cares only about school rating and no more. I wish Oak Hills and Transportation department will be sued and I will be supporting parents in law sued process. Horrible.

My son went to this school. All the teacher were very sweet and helpful. Well I don't have a word for the principal. My son got bullied by a student who hit him to the point that he couldn't breath. So I went to have a meeting with the principal. I wanted to let her know how bad it was. Her respond was no big deal. Instead of insuring me that this won't happen again or being just little bit sensitive about the situation. She said, this is very common in the school. She said, oh she has seen worst then this. She has seen up to the point where she had called the police. In other words she told me it was ok for my son to be bullied. No sensitivity at all. I was shocked by her respond. She has no leadership qualities in her. On other hand all the teachers were so caring about what happened to him. They kept checking with me if he was ok.

I brought my boys to this school from Portland public schools. Thinking this would be a great school for my boys to attend. Boy was I wrong. The staff, especially the receptionist who I won't name, has been really rude to me. From hanging up on me when I call the office for anything to ignoring my boys when they had a question as to which school bus to go on. Not only that the school had called me 6 times and after not leaving any messages I called them back on my lunch at work. The receptionist told me one of my sons was marked absent when I told her they all left for school together that morning. Thinking oh great where is my son. And the receptionist actually told me she didn't have time to go looking for my kid when she had other important stuff to do. So now I don't want my kids at that school because in my eyes their not safe. Now everyday I wonder if my kids will be alright at school. I think this school needs to have better staff. More caring and respectful to the kids AND the parents.

Best school to send kids to. Very much overlooked due to hype created by Findley elementary in the same area. Teachers are good and very much focus. Mixed population so kids understand to respect each other ethnicity. My only regret is principal does not get in to the same spirit as the parents. But Still not bad.

I love this school. I went there myself. I thought was a great school for me to go to. If I still leaved in Oregon. I would love for my kids to go there when I have kids someday. I love and miss all my teachers that i had when I went there.
