Mckay has been a great experience for both my daughters. Being a smaller school, all the teachers and staff know the students on a first name basis. It’s a nurturing, loving environment where everyone feels welcome and supported. It really feels like an extended part of my family.

McKay has been such a wonderful part of our lives, my two kids love it there and have thrived. They really make a community of all the teachers, staff, kids and families making it a truly welcoming environment.

We were so lucky to move to the neighborhood for McKay, it’s a great community school! They have great communication with parents, my daughter has an IEP and we’ve felt included at each step in the process and our concerns are heard, and addressed right away! The teachers are very experienced and because they’ve been with the same school for years the know the materials, they aren’t asked to shuffle around every year! The stability of getting to know the staff and seeing the same faces every year, we feel like we know everyone! Our daughter is thriving and they have done very well adapting the curriculum to meet her needs, in areas she struggles and areas she excels! The older kids are connected with younger and it is truly a community, which shows in how well the kids get along with each other and how supportive the environment feels!

We love McKay Elementary! This is a wonderful small community school. The principal and teachers greet every family by name at drop off, the staff is warm, welcoming and provides a safe and nurturing environment for our children. I have a Pre-k and 1st grader and McKay, both students are excelling and very happy at school. Classes are small, children are given the individual attention they need. The support staff is fantastic. We even have a wonderful therapy dog, Valencia! McKay truly is a special school and we’re happy to go here.

McKay Elementary School is an amazing school for all students and families. McKay is a wonderful community school. It has a strong and growing Parent Teacher Club that works closely with teachers and staff to support the needs of the students, staff and community. The teachers are all wonderful and supportive of each and every student. My two kids have had a wonderful experience at McKay. My daughter has graduated to middle school and McKay did a wonderful job of preparing her for her next step. My son is having a great year with a teacher who is willing to reach out and help us support his needs. I couldn’t ask for a better school for my kids.

McKay Elementary is truly a gem in the heart of Beaverton! The staff here is not only highly skilled, but they are also incredibly loving and supportive. Every teacher, administrator, and staff member goes above and beyond to ensure every child feels seen, heard, and valued. The nurturing environment they create fosters confidence and a love of learning in every student. McKay Elementary is a place where kids truly thrive, and families feel like part of a wonderful community. We are so grateful for the amazing work they do each day!

McKay elementary is a wonderful community school. The educators and staff there know each child by name. Kids have age-appropriate responsibilities that give them a sense of belonging and pride. There is a strong culture of caring for each other among the students.

Great school, wonderful and committed staff! We have been at McKay for 2 years and are very happy with the entire school. It's a very community-oriented staff and group of parents and the teachers care greatly for the students. Excellent principal (Erin Kollings) too. The small class sizes are an added bonus.

My son used to attend this elementary school. He had an IEP meaning he was in a special education class. I was hopeful that the program identified would be a suitable fit. However, from the start my son's behavioral issues hiked up significantly, because my son could not communicate effectively I wasn't able to completely understand when he was having issues however his teacher was always quick to call me and complain and asked me to coach him. On one occasion I was called because he tossed a chair at the teacher. I quickly addressed the issue with my son and grounded him to learn later from my nephew whom also attended the school of an incident that he witnessed and how poorly he was being treated from his Special Ed teacher. It broke my heart and made me agree. I addressed the teacher and the whole team. The principal did reach out and apologize, he was then isolated and I wasn't even aware. My experience here was horrible. I learned a lesson that day, that you should not always believe the staff. I am my son's biggest advocate now and this taught me to further investigate and keep close tabs no matter what. He is now going to HS and his middle school years were much better, his teacher for the past 3 years took the time to know him and build a relationship with him to address any poor decision making on his behalf. My daughter is now here and she's falling behind on her reading and writing, I just don't think this school is good. Reading the scores for this school makes me believe that what I was already experiencing seems to be aligned with this rating. Looking now for a better school district.

The teachers care about the students, the staff cares about the students and the principal is engaged and invested in the school. I couldn't have asked for a better elementary school experience for my son. The school is small, but feels like family. The staff know all of the kids by name and I just think that speaks volumes to how the school functions. My son is in 5th grade now and we have loved every single teacher he has had. My son has always done well in math, but struggled more in reading/writing. Never once was he made to feel bad or that he wasn't good enough. Through the years he has grown to love reading and even though he still struggles a bit, he actually wants to read! When he came to this school is 1st grade he avoided reading like the plague! McKay is such a special school, we are saddend this is our last year. Thank you McKay staff and teachers!!

All 3 of my kids have attended this school (the last one is still there) The staff and teachers are fully invested in their students and go above and beyond to help each and everyone of their students.

I am so happy to be part of this school. My daughter loves it here. Shes in preschool program. Shes a fan of her teacher mrs Odom. They have a real good approach to teach as it's a first year of preschool here but really impressive. I see things are changing (good) for my kiddo she never liked to go to school. Thanks McKay and Mrs Odom

I am highly disappointed with them as a matter of fact I'm disgusted with the school. They have a lack of compassion for our situation and they have a Power Trip.

My experience at McKay has been incredible. I feel welcomed from the moment I step on the campus. As with all schools in the Beaverton area, you are required to pass a background check to be on campus. The staff know my child and have made an effort to get to my family as well. It is a small school with a big heart. I would encourage anyone to place their child at this school!

Amazing school for my special needs child. He attended Nancy Ryles previously and was left behind and bullied but has found acceptance at McKay.

Mckay elementary has been a true blessing for us. We moved here 6 months ago and enrolled our son. Moving from the mountains in Colorado to Beaverton has been quite different for us. Our son has few ways about him which has made it hard on him since he started him in school 3yrs ago and he was shoed away instead of cared for and understood . Mckay and miss cook 1st grade teacher are the best school and teacher we have ever been involved with. Ever!! They'll go the long haul to make the children and parents feel almost like family our boy hated school and never wanted to go . Now he cries if he even has to miss a part of a day . Thank you Mckay!!

My Step Daughter attended this school. She thrived and absolutely loved her teacher. It shouldn't be left soley to the teachers to educate children. It starts at home and should continue at home. Parents need to do their share of the work as well. This school offers several parent/student activites throughout the year. This is a great school and the administration goes above and beyond to ensure that the kids are taken care of.
