My daughter transferred here in 7th grade after a two year disastrous try at a local private school. Although this place does have its challenges, I found the new principal, staff and so many of its teachers to be amazing. I don’t know if she was able to rise above it all or that it’s not as bad as the reviews say but I found her mental health blossomed here (after being destroyed at the private school) and she developed many necessary social skills that will serve her well in live. Big shout out to Mr Wilson (Choir) and Ms Vejo (Spanish) for being uniquely awesome educators. My child went on a college prep HS where she is absolutely thriving and was well prepared academically.

I am a current student here at Whitford and I am in eighth grade. I can say that my experience here isn't the best. During my 6th and 7th grade year, I used to get bullied relentlessly, and I reported the situation but nothing was done about it. It got so bad to the point where I didn't want to come to school for days and days. No one has bothered me too much this year. except for a couple of glares and other stuff from the "popular kids". Overall the students here in general do not know how to behave and when something is reported nothing happens. My learning experience is okay though. And drama club is great. but otherwise nothing else good comes from this school.

There are always fights at Whitford, and people have always vandalized bathrooms. It is very rare to find a nice 7th grader in 6th grade. They would always threaten to jump you (fight you) if you bumped into them. There are fights every week or talk about a fight happening. Most people hate Whitford and wish they could go somewhere else.

My science teacher is mean to me and most people are jerks. Also, there are a lot of fights and my choir class is full of disrespectful kids...

As a current student, I have been bullied about my looks and race all the time and I just don’t feel safe at this school. But I can’t give it a zero, so I’ll give it a one.

I am a current 8th grader. I have a few nice teachers (including Math, Spanish, and History), who are good at their jobs. My tech teacher has made me cry and my PE teacher is rude. I hear white students say the N-word almost everyday, along with other slurs. The students are "Prickly" to say the least. I have been the victim of name-calling my whole middle school career. The bathrooms are often disgusting to the point where they have to close. I feel badly for our custodians who have to clean up after people. Many students disregard the teacher's rules and undermine other classmates'learning. Many substitutes have refused to come back. Fights occur almost every week. I have been threatened to be "jumped". Many students are simply immature. The upsides are the diversity of our students and the many cultures. The teachers are predominantly accepting and so is the Principal. While the students might not always respect people, the staff for the most part do. Overall, I personally cannot wait to leave.

I am a seventh grader in the summa program. I love summa, it's a great, thriving community. The teachers do a great job of teaching us, and I feel my overall expericence is great. HOWEVER, the rest of the school i'm not so sure about. Kids go to the library to work on "schoolwork" when they are really just playing computer games. Kids sit out in the hallway during class time and do nothing. One of my friends who isn't summa told me that kids play on their cell phones and talk alot and read during class, and the teachers don't care.

I am in the SUMMA program, and we have wonderful teachers, but based on other classes I have seen and the hallways, the school is not very good. I go here right now for my second year and we have had so many problems within the school it is ridiculous, and nothing gets done about it.
