We are blessed to have such a lovely, caring staff and administration at our little school!

When I pointed out that my daughter was doing math she had mastered 11 months prior, it was not well received. I moved her to a different school and she went up multiple grade levels. The families and kids are high quality, but the instructional leadership is poor and getting worse. With the quality of the students (the kids are at the 70th percentile in math when Bayfield gets them), all this school needs to do is use the grade level math book and go forward one lesson at a time. They just don't do it, they have used a hodgepodge of materials and overcomplicate what is really a simple process-elementary school math. Now they are trying to develop a web-based program and all their attention is software development rather than the students. It's a school, not a tech start-up. It's good that there is state testing, because it continues to show how what they are doing is working-NOT.

Our children have attended this school for the past 5 years. PROS: the teachers really DO care about our children and their learning and it shows. Great community feel. Principal and counselor are always there to help. New Principal in 2013 is doing an amazing job. Friendly receptionist. Good at getting the kids excited for new programs. Problems and issues are addressed in a timely manner. CONS: limited lunch menu, no microwave in the cafeteria for kids, curriculum seems to change frequently and lacks consistency/carry over to junior high/high school. Low test scores on TCAP. All of this being said, our children love it here.
