Durango High School is wonderful learning environment with many course options for students. The teacher's and staff are highly dedicated and well trained.

Absolutely the worst school I have been to. It is full of drugs and I was not challenged academically whatsoever. The foreign language program was very poor. The teachers do not make an effort to properly teach. Their attendance policy is horrid, they let kids skip whenever they want. I went their for a year and I was not challenged and didn't learn anything. Do not send your kids here if you want them to excel.

This school was alright. But the cliques and groups are honestly awful. If you aren't popular nobody talks to you. They look right past you. DHS has some good teachers, but also a fare share of really terrible teaching styles. Most of the people that go here are rich, and many of them are snobby. Lots of fighting, and drug use. I liked it alright, because i had friends, but the unpopular people are treated awfully.

I have a son at this school and it is an outstanding high school. He is being academically challenged and is excelling. The school has AP (Advanced Placement) courses, courses that count towards college credit and it is incorporating International Baccalaureate into the curriculum. The other high school in Durango, Animas High School, does not even have AP courses available for the students.

I have had two students at Durango High School. My older son graduated and went on to a highly competitive college in another state. He felt well prepared by his high school experience. My other son is still at the school and has been very active in extracurricular activities, teams, and honors and AP classes. The teachers have gone out of their way for both my kids, to be supportive and helpful. I have never had a complaint or a bad experience.
