Discovery Charter School is a unique school with exciting opportunities for all students. Kids get excited about the various projects they work on throughout the year such as the school-wide music video, as many of the clubs and classes get involved. Students from all over the Raleigh-Durham area go to this school, and it's very cool to see kids from different neighborhoods coming together. If you're a creative student, this is definitely the place to be.

I can’t recommend this school to any parent who values their child’s safety, social well being, or education. The leadership is lacking in those areas. I found instances upon which their policy either wasn’t followed and/or leveraged incorrectly (ad hoc). Parents considering this school should seek quantitative data (test scores) and qualitative information (surveys that measure family satisfaction, & look at their policy on discipline). I found missteps in their policy practices with no options for neutral arbitration.

Discovery has been a big disappointment and racism is running wild.Do not believe what is said during orientation. Late assignments with in reason are not usually accepted. Positive or restorative discipline has never been used in my children's situations. I have never in my life witnessed such unfair treatment.. I have caught the director of middle school in many lies. A great school for Caucasian children with no special needs!! Please don't make the mistake I did, I did not need the warning about racism.

Discovery Charter School is passionate about their students being passionate! Visiting the school for their POL presentations has really highlighted to me how the staff and students truly love education. Students were seen working together and encouraging one another throughout their presentations. Staff led the students through the event set up process and students clearly wanted to be involved in making sure the event went well and looked professional. Kids take pride in their work here! The projects and presentations themselves were very detailed and elements from the visual and digital arts were clearly present. The topics were unique ranging from NC pirate history to model planes, product branding and more! The different events I've attended at the school have always run smoothly, and families are always welcome to be engaged in their child's education at this school. Kids of all backgrounds appear to be proud of their interests and their school spirit at Discovery.

I am deeply troubled by our experience at Discovery Charter School, where racial slurs and prejudice seem to be pervasive issues. For those considering enrolling their children, I strongly urge you to read the eye-opening article titled 'Racial Slurs and Prejudice, Rampant at Charter School.' from the triangle tribute. This piece delves into the disturbing incidents of racism faced by students, revealing a troubling pattern within the school. The article provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by students of color and those with disabilities, shedding light on the school's failure to address these issues effectively. As a concerned parent, I believe it is essential for others to be aware of the harsh realities within this institution before making a decision about their child's education.I encourage you to read 'Racial Slurs and Prejudice, Rampant at Charter School' to gain a comprehensive understanding of the deeply concerning experiences shared by parents and students. Education should be a safe and inclusive environment for all children, and it's crucial to consider the perspectives shared in the article before choosing a school for your child."
