City School has been a wonderful place for my children to grow and learn. I feel that my children are met where there while challenged academically at the same time. The small class sizes are wonderful and the teachers are so caring.

City School truly values the whole child. While no school is ever perfect, nor can they perfectly meet every child's every need, City School excels in loving and knowing the students they serve. The Charlotte Mason principles used in the classroom and the Christ-centered philosophy as a whole creates an environment for learning that children flourish in. Children are safe here, they're known and respected, and they are encouraged to love learning and love Jesus. The community of people here do not claim to be perfect, but seek a perfect God. Having chapel each week and Bible lessons on class is a wonderful focus each day and adds to the social and emotional learning the children experience. We are blessed by this community and education.

My wife and I were always impressed by the character of students we knew who were attending City School, and now we have the pleasure of sending our son there! Since he has been in school he has developed life giving friendships, gained the beginnings of an appreciation and wonder for literature, creation, art and faith. The class rooms are full of life and the attentiveness, and the care that the teachers show towards the students and material is absolutely incredible. I can confidently say that this is one of best environments in Austin, TX for parents to send their children for education. If you are a parent who longs for an environment within which your child can receive a well rounded education that is geared towards their development as a whole person - look no further than City School.

We have been at City School for three years and are overwhelmingly impressed with the loving culture and community. We are grateful for the way our child is seen and developed by her teachers, and for the friendships we have made with other City School parents. We are thankful for the way that this school has partnered with us in to surround our child with believers who are invested in her growth and flourishing

We love City School!!! So many things I love: small classes, whole child education, lots of outside time, diverse community, diverse perspectives in curriculum, cultivating conflict resolution skills, focus on critical thinking, SCREEN FREE… and great scholarships, which is how my family is able to afford it on a teacher’s salary! They have also been very supportive of my child’s learning difficulties, providing daily individual support and frequent communication.

In City School, my family found exactly what we were looking for as a Christian, Charlotte Mason based, screen free elementary school, where our two girls get individualized instruction, lots of outdoor time, intentional social emotional learning, and exposure to a wealth of high quality art and literature. Our daughter with dyslexia receives daily one-on-one reading instruction using proven curriculum and her teachers are available and in constant communication with us. We’re seeing amazing progress. We love it here!!!

We love City School. My son is excited to go to school, is loved by his teachers and friends, and is learning so much more than just academics. He’s learning scripture, conflict resolution, and is valued and seen by the staff.

My experience with City School began as a substitute teacher and then as a grandparent of a student. I found staff and teachers were caring and committed to an educational core that is excellent. I see all subjects being valued, from reading and writing, maths and the arts to nature studies and sports. I also delight that they have small classes so they can really enjoy and help individual learners and encourage them daily in their unique giftings.

We love City School! Our child’s reading level has improved dramatically since coming to City School. Her teachers have implemented a great plan and give her one-on-one attention to help her overcome obstacles. We also love the holistic academic approach and no screens!! At her last school, she was staring at a screen for the majority of the day. We are very thankful for the culture and environment at City School.

I have three boys boys who went to City School. My oldest son, who is now 16, started in Pre-K and went all the way through the 8th grade. My middle son attended from Pre-K to sixth grade, and my youngest was enrolled from Pre-K through the third grade. We had to switch over to Valor when my oldest graduated from City School because he needed to attend a high school and I wanted to keep my boys all together. It was an incredibly difficult switch for all three, and they all look back at their time at City school with longing and deep affection.I have never experienced a world like City School. The curriculum is fantastic, and the teachers are simply exceptional. The Christ-centered atmosphere, the calm order, the joy, the curiosity, the Charlotte Mason philosophy of learning....there are just a million things I could speak to as a parent. I always knew that my boys were safe, well-loved, held to a high standard, and encouraged every step of the way.One of my sons is on the spectrum and struggles with slow processing and ADHD. Because of his incredible teachers and the small classroom size, he was loved and nurtured and patiently led through his childhood--(and it really did take a village of loving Christians to help him.)I'd also like to speak to one of the reviews that spoke negatively about John Rees. Even though he stepped down from his position as head master, I cannot let that negative review just float around in cyber space without telling the truth. ha:) I have known John since 2011. I have never known a finer educator or a more fearless leader. He is truly servant-hearted, compassionate, wise, and good. It has been an honor to know him all these years. He helped shape City School into the wonderful institution that it is for so many.

My children attended City School for Middle School, and it was the perfect environment for those awkward years. They had loving teachers and received a wonderful education and were well-prepared for high school.

Not a very welcoming school, the Head of the school , John Rees is rude, condescending, and a not trustworthy. The school itself is not run well and not a good neighbor in its community.
