I was out of the country for 3 years and I came back. I am now currently studying at Apopka High School in my Junior year. I find that school has lost a little of its grip, but it can still be saved. There is much school spirit, an extraordinary amount of pride in the school. We have gone from a supposedly B-C to A-B school. Our test scores are rising. Our football team has been on the news, and we have been drafted from. Our debate initiative is national, and we have won the most recent National event NCDC. We have very extensive extracurricular activities and varieties in electives. Many teachers help you out and are your friends. We have many AICE classes. We have free lunch. Our national convention for beta has won many things. Our bowling team is a 7-time e national champion. we have national merit scholars. I know a student that got accepted to brown university, and another to yale. our debate team is going to Harvard for a multi-day event. Our band is doing a cherry blossom parade.

I've spent quite a bit of time at this school, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a bit of fun. But this school is way too crowded. I quite literally got sick of it. Another thing, there are far too many fights. Some of the students in the classes are far too disruptive. Some of the teachers are way, way too nice. If you want to give this school a shot, go ahead, but I wouldn't reccomend it to anybody.

Had 3 children with disabilities graduate from AHS. The administrators, counselors, and teachers were mindful and accommodating regarding their physical and academic needs. Two have attained Master's degrees while the youngest is working towards his Bachelor's.

I loved apopka high at my freshman year but my mom transfered me to lake brantley when apopka high was the school I felt most comfortable with. The teachers do respect the students difference and I loved it. Dont go to brantley, apopka high is a much better choice because apopka high is a much bigger school and your kid can be involved with athletic clubs and academic clubs

When we first moved here to Florida we moved to Altamonte Springs so my son could attend Lake Brantley High School, but we chose to buy a home in Apopka (mistake #1) because we were told Apopka High was a great school. I have never in my life seen so much pass the buck, or responsibility in my life than at Apopka HS. Teachers want to grade your child down until you confront them, and then they tell you that you have an excellent child. Way too many fights at school despite having one or two SROs; the faculty, well, save yourself and your child a lot of problems and just find a place to live in the Lake Brantley school zone in Altamonte Springs. Way less crime, and way better school.

I am in the unique position that one of my children went to Wekiva High School and the other went to Apopka High School. Both have strengths and shortcomings, and it is important to think about what type of student you have to determine which school would fit best with their personality. Scholarly student--best at Wekiva Athletic student--Apopka Artistic Student--Wekiva Engineering/Robotics program--Apopka Laser Photonics program--Wekiva Medical Sciences program--Apopka Agricultural program--Apopka Musical student--Apopka Both schools have JROTC--Apopka has Marines, Wekiva has Air Force Wekiva is generally more willing to cooperate with unique student needs. At Apopka, there is some bureaucratic nonsense that can be frustrating if you don't see eye to eye with what the school recommends for your student. That said, both my children have had great successes at both schools because the schools played to their individual strengths. Apopka is working at improving its emphasis on academics, but they have a ways to go to catch up to Wekiva in that department.

My school is Awesome. It really excels in athletics and the musical department. The marching band is amazing and the football team is really good. To be honest, the staff in the office don't seem to take the students seriously. My mom was very upset after she didn't get any help, but put negativity aside AHS is an amazing school. My best friend who is in private school is considering going to AHS when she gets older. If you want a school that supports creativity and extracurriculars AHS is the way to go. We also have the JROTC program and I actually took two semesters. It's Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps so they don't mess around and it's a great course if you are interested in becoming involved in the military. The chorus department is also a class I take and I really enjoyed it. I know this is a really long review but Apopka High gets looked down upon because we seem very, well I can't quite find a word for it but we might come about "Ghetto" i guess. We aren't. This is a great school and we take our pride seriously. Go Darters.

Honestly,I was thinking about going to this school.I would be transferring from Apopka Christain Academy to here or Ocoee High,I'm going into 9th grade and I would love a school that supports my strengths and helps me with my weakness(s) .S ome day this school is astonishing yet some say it is detrimental to their brains,So Honestly Help a Progressing Soon-To-Be High schooler out.Is this school Good or bad?

It's fun and there are really great teachers.I get excellent schooling.I do feel that the administrators need to pay more attention to their students needs.

I completely hate this school. This school is just plain ridiculous! The teachers don't even care at all and don't even teach! All of my teachers except for one just let the class do anything and just sat there on their phones or on their computers even during semester exams. My parent and I tried to contact teachers and staff and no one replied a all. I was a straight A student before I came here and took all AP's and Honors and I dropped down to a 2.0. I felt no one there really cared about me and I felt no one tried to help me improve. So I had to learn everything on my own through the textbooks because I could not rely on the teachers to teach me the material. Also their attendance policy is really asinine. They suspend students for being late to school five or six time without even giving them referral first. I got suspended and I felt I was labeled as a misbehaved child but I am not. I have a perfect record and even won an award from President Barack Obama. The man who deals with attendance thinks he runs everything and is very disrespectful. Overall this was a horrible experience and I would NOT recommend attending this school. No one cares and it is all about football!
