YES! We have an amazing new principal, Ms. Collins. She's made an incredible difference already in our school community. Students, teachers/staff, and parents are all being supported under her guidance. Thank you Ms. Collins!

This school has gone spiraling down super fast when principal Carmona became principal. She is always at her office, never engages with students or parents. Never answers the parents calls. Kids are academically held back. Teachers discriminate against students. Bullying is the norm now, since the new principal took over. Not the best of schools anymore.

Very Bad School!!! Terrible for my two children.

I would not recommend to go to this school. First of all, the supervisors just aren't fair. My child is in the GATE program and many of the supervisors just seem to favor the other kids more and don't treat everybody with respect. I find this ironic because one of the school's motto is respectful. The supervisors are also always busy doing something else such as looking at their phone or eating. My kids have come home crying because of the way he was being treated. He has told me that they were discriminating against their race/culture. Secondly, the new principle, Melanie Carmona has also never really been engaging with students. The last reason why i do not recommend this school is because of how close it is the the railroad. It is so loud when the trains go by that it disturbs the learning process.

This school is absolutely horrible and does not make my student smarter at all. In fact, my child has gotten less intelligent. Every staff member at this school does not care about the students and are always on their phone. They also discriminate against his culture, race, and gender. I am extremely disappointed with this school and is not even sure why this school still runs. Another example is when my child got sick for 2 days, they called me and said my child was chronically absent. They said that even 2 days in a school counts as chronically absent. I realized that this is just because they won't get paid for the student being absent for 2 days. All in all, I wished I had never sent my child to this broke, discriminating, unorganized school. Other parents have also had this same issue so it is not just me.

The Principal (Carmona) is awful! There is a negative cloud over this school. The children come out each day unhappy. The Principal and teachers reward bully's with kindness certificates (yes really!). They are NOT allowed to take library books home so they sit in their desks until they have to bring them back. The PTA is filled with a bunch of competitive wannabe 2- faced teenagers that live through their children. Most classrooms are windowless. They do not have an auditorium or even a true slave for events except their yard which is dead grass. Their is lack of supervision in the playground - kids get hurt and kids fight without supervisors seeing....supervisors are also on their phones many times. Confidentiality is a major issue here. This is a sad, small school that needs help from the district.

My son is now in first grade at woodsboro and has been attending since kindergarten. We have had such a positive experience here. His kindergarten teacher Ms Hill was amazing, challenged the students, set high expectations, and made his first year at the school very memorable. He is now in Ms. Brown’s first grade and is continuing to thrive. His teacher is kind, great with parent communication, and genuinely has a passion for what she does. My son loves going to school and being around all the friends he has made. The warm and positive learning school environment is largely due to the amazing principal (dr Lopez). He constantly communicates with parents, keeps us updated with weekly newsletters, and makes the school such a fun learning environment. My biggest fear when my son first started kindergarten was bullying; so far he has not experienced any negativity or bullying. I hope my son continues to thrive and enjoy attending woodsboro

So far so good, my son will be going into 1st grade and my other into preppy K. His year in kindergarten was amazing, his teacher was so great and hands on with the kids, she takes her time with them. My son came out of his shell this past year and is a little social butterfly now, he has also mastered subtraction and addiction at a kindergarten level. His reading is great too. He absolutely loves this school and we do too. We have been to other schools in the past and took him out within the first weeks. Every staff member I have encountered at this school is just amazing, I have never had a problem here.

This school is horrible. Teacher Le are rude and don't mind embarrassing kids in front of other students. The principal does not know how to manage her staff or even keep the children safe. There was a child hit at the school last year. Parents be aware!

Woodsboro Elementary in Anaheim, CA is a 2012 California distinguished school. I am so pleased that both of my children have been able to spend their entire elementary years at Woodsboro. I have notices that the Core Cirriculum that is now being practiced allows a more thought based teaching and learning style, rather than just rote memorization. This style of learning actually seems to involve the students more, including them in class discussions, which allows them to learn at their own pace, rather than having a set pace pace to follow for the Cirriculum, which can be hard for many children to keep up with. One of my children is Gate eligible, and the other child has previously needed a bit of extra help in math and reading, but they have both succeeded in the Core Cirriculum program. I really love it... The people who are afraid of it need to just give it a chance, I think they are afraid of change!

I have lives in this neighborhood since before my kids were born. I will not move because I love Woodsboro so much! I is a California Distinguished School 2012! Also, it has a family like atmosphere where everyone knows everyone. Mrs. Mann, the Office Secretary, Knows the name of every child in the school! She makes everyone feel important and special. There are amazing teachers in the school, including Mrs. Hawkins and Mr. Gailey to name my favorites. I really am enjoying the Common Core Curriculum that is being used this year! I feel that it has been a positive change for everyone. It allows the teachers to determine how much time is needed to be spent on a specific area of learning before moving on, rather than rushing through all of the topics in a certain amount of time. It also includes the children in the classroom discussion more than before. I would move to this area just for this school! It is amazing!

There are some caring teachers at Woodsboro; however, this school is a poor excuse for a GATE magnet school. Depth, complexity, and differentiation are completely lacking.
