Hephatha Lutheran School is truly exceptional in every way. The teachers here genuinely care for each student’s academic, spiritual, and social development. It’s clear that they take the time to get to know each child individually and provide the support needed for their success. The school’s curriculum is academically advanced, keeping students challenged and engaged at all times. Beyond academics, Hephatha places a strong emphasis on character development and nurturing a strong sense of community, ensuring that students grow spiritually and socially as well. I am so grateful for the positive impact this school has had on our family!

We enrolled my child here in 1st grade. We completed kindergarten public school and thought maybe private school would be better and have a better curriculum. I have to say, I am extremely disappointed. As a 7-year-old, my child has a ridiculous amount of homework (including homework given on national holidays!). Not sure if it’s due to the new common core standards that the school adopted (this was another reason we wanted to get away from public school), but it seems like I’m having to teach them their homework everyday…. Extremely disappointed in the adoption of common core standards and new curriculum. Parents were not even notified of the new curriculum roll-out, which is shocking for a private school. No other private school in the area has adopted common core standards. Not to mention the school asks for money for everything and trust me, the parents are very generous, but beginning to wonder where all our money is going. And if your child needs extra help with resource specialist during the school day, you have to pay extra money on top of regular tuition! We also don’t get very opportunities to volunteer inside the classroom which is completely opposite of our experience at public school and parents were in the class multiple times a week. Will likely be leaving as we have been very disappointed.

Most of the positive reviews are from the tenure of the previous principal. The current principal is “friends” with the staff and the level of academic rigor has dropped. My oldest completed 8th grade. My middle child left after 6th and I had to hire a tutor to catch her up in math and science even though she was in an “advanced” math class. She is now a straight A student in all honors classes. My youngest, I pulled mid year because the new 4th grade teacher could not or would not provide enrichment for higher level students. He moved into a GATE program at our local public school. He is behind his peers in math, science, and writing and asked for time with my daughter’s tutor to help him get caught up to his peers. If academics are not a priority and you are looking for a place that practices grade inflation, then this is the school for you.

My child loves going to school every day! With caring and knowledgeable teachers, staff that is both effective and approachable, and top notch education, we are extremely happy! In addition to offering education, spiritual growth and extra curricular activities, Hephatha is a community of parents, teachers and staff that care about each other and work hard for our children to thrive!

Hephatha is a great school with exceptional academics, a surplus of extra-curricular activities (Spanish, Music, Sports and more) and most importantly loving and caring teachers in a positive family environment. Graduates have gone on to be successful at the high school and college level in all areas of athletics, the arts and academics. The graduates from Hephatha are praised at the high school level for their study skills, independence and work ethic. I work at the local High School, so I know this to be fact. The after school care and summer day camp are also exceptional programs!

Too many helicopter parents have taken over this school. The Principal and Staff have good intentions, however they seem to be influenced by overly involved parents that are only looking out for their own kid. We transferred our kids to a neighboring Lutheran school and they have excelled in academics, athletics, and most importantly, social skills. If you are a doting parent that wants to influence every aspect of your child's education, then this is the school for you. If you are a parent that wants to encourage your child to be more independent and get prepare them for the social complexities of high school, then you might want to look elsewhere.

This school has a huge heart for its students, and the Principal is on the cutting-edge of what is new in strong academic programs. Hephatha truly offers "the whole package" that a parent is looking for in a private school education. Teachers who retire after 20+ years of service are certainly not considered "dwindling staff"; Hephatha's Principal, Teachers, Administrative Staff, students and Pastors are top-notch!
