We’ve had a very good experience with Dolvin. My daughter has been there for 3 years. She’s had very sweet and compassionate teachers each year. My daughter received an IEP at Dolvin and the process was very smooth. I can’t think of anything that they could work on at this time.

My children have had a good experience with the teachers. Mrs Keller, Mrs Williams, and Mrs Jackson are wonderful. Anything we brought to their attention they jumped on immediately.I was not impressed with the principle whom I have not yet met. She would not allow me to hold my child back even though she could not read at the end of Kindergarten. (She said all this from her office, sitting at her desk, and refused to allow me in to meet with her - I was told all this in a hallway). In addition, I had to request testing for my child for Special Ed (they wouldn't do it until they had 3 weeks of performance data and then the testing process takes 12 weeks) by the time we had the results it was the end of the school and ...shockingly, we had to hold my daughter in school. Now that she is in Special Ed, in the correct grade and under the wonderful care of Mrs Williams, my daughter is thriving! Wish the principle had listen to me 2 years ago..would have saved my Daughter a year of tears.

This school has been given a bad rating based on the student experience rather than the parent experience. Many of my friends and neighbors, in addition to their siblings, have attended or are attending Dolvin. I went to school there for 4 years, from 2008-2009 to 2011-2012, so some things have obviously changed, but my brother left Dolvin just last year. The building is extremely outdated, as the school is 37 years old or so, having been built in 1979. It is worth noting that the 4th and 5th grade halls were built around 8 or 9 years ago. The building is in constant need of repairs, and according to my brother, has had insect infestations. The school has recently tried to invest in technology and nicer facilities, so fundraising has greatly increased. This can be very annoying. The teachers vary in ability. I was lucky enough to have good or average teachers throughout my years at Dolvin. No matter how good a teacher is, the advanced students are bound to be neglected while the teachers help struggling students. However, my brother has been unlucky. Several of his teachers were about to retire, and they hated their students and generally did not put in effort. The schools test scores are only high because the students out in so much effort, not due to the teachers' lackluster performance. The teachers are in general not very understanding of the problems students face. The technology at the school was very outdated when I went there, but it has improved. The recess opportunities have become much more limited with the removal of the playground equipment. The TAG program is one of the few bright spots at Dolvin. Everyone I know looked forward to TAG because it was the only interesting and challenging academic experience they would have all week. Dolvin has a full range of experiences available to students, some of which are good, some of which are bad. It is up to you to decide if this school is the right fit for your child.

I am reluctant to let the secret out but the school definitely deserves the recognition. I have a first and third grader at the school. We came here looking for a nice community with a highly ranked school cluster. The students should feel proud of their school. And remember they have a big role in the outcome. The school focuses on several aspects to ensure students are equipped with the tools they need to be self-thinking, accountable, independent, and socially responsible individuals however emphasizing the team approach. The school including adminstrators, teachers, faculty, all believe in what they are doing; empowering each student, showing that they are successful through the use of a combination of standard teaching techniques, philosophies, mindsets AND good old fashion hard work. The punchline is that Dolvin has top notch teachers who really care, has each child's best interest at heart, proactive in promoting their achievements but not compromising a happy environment and other aspects of learning. They understand the importance of being well rounded. They don't forget to make it fun and interesting. Best of all the students believe in it as well. The way the kids are responding is very exciting. Plus the support/involvement of the parents is tremendous. And watch out for the PTA they are a wild bunch and they mean business. Dolvins's success is greatly due to their dedication Now if you can find a decent house that is affordable! Lol Go Dolvins!!

This school is top notch! Great test scores, top quality teachers and staff, and an abundance of technology and classroom resources. The PTA is activly involved with academic enrichment, environmental education, and community programs. The PTA even provides funds to each teacher for classroom supplies and pays to have the grounds maintained on a weekly basis because the county will only cut the grass once a month. The school foundation provided white boards and Ipad carts. No parent is left behind because there are amply volunteer opportunities within the classroom and school. We have been so thrilled with our experience at Dolvin. Would not move out of the school district for any amount of money.

Our daughter has had wonderful teachers who care for her well being as well as her academic achievements. (It's highly rigorous.) Fulton county provides accelerated courses for Math and Reading for students who excel in those subjects as well as a TAG program. We moved here because of the diversity of the school as well as the strong community that the school strives to build. They have an amazing PTA which supports the students and the staff as well as a strong school Foundation that provides much of the new technology in the school. They also have a strong music and arts program which are led by amazing teachers. Do they have fundraisers? Of course they do! How else would a public school with limited funding get so many resources! It is excessive? No. (Direct giving, Fall/Spring) The new Charter system provides flexibility to our school so it'll be great to see how that unfolds in the up coming years.

This school is fantastic. I relocated to be in this cluster of schools after researching everything in the area and have been very pleased. They have high expectations and hold our children to a high standard, which I appreciate.

I have 2 boys in Kindergarten here and so far I could not be more pleased with the teachers, the staff and the PTA. The communication to the parents is well organized and clear. My boys love school and it seems like a great environment with caring and well behaved children.

We are on year 5 out of the 9 that we will spend at Dolvin. To address previous comments, the school seems to be doing a lot less fundraising this year. I actually don't mind the fundraising, because the Dolvin foundation has really done a great job providing our students with top notch technology. I been pleased with the quality of teachers. The one time that I was not thrilled, I bought my concerns forward and my child was moved the next day. I was treated with respect and my voice was heard. Not only that, but changes were made in the 1st class to address my concerns. All schools require a parent to stay on top of things, and Dolvin is no different. I feel that most of the parents here are very involved both with the school and with the education of their children. I am also very happy with the implementation of the Common Core program. The teachers have done a nice job learning an entirely new system. The ability for a parent to stay ahead of what we know will be studied is awesome!

I've had students at Dolvin for the past 7 years (2 more to go). It was a pretty good school under the previous principal, but now with Mrs. Zoll the school is great. Her default answer is "yes, we can do that!". I tend to volunteer at the class room level (room parent, science helper) and there are plenty of opportunities to be involved. Fundraising is optional, but it DOES provide a lot of extras. I don't mind participating since I feel my sons are getting a great education without paying private school tuition. I do think there are a few legacy teachers who have lost their passion but I think that's true at any (private or public) school. I look forward to next year under the Charter system when the school will have even more flexibility.

At least one of my children have been at this school for the past 8 years so I feel that I have very good feel for the dynamics of this school. Dolvin is an excellent school that focuses on academics as well as character development. Sure, they do fundraising but what school doesn't? It is not an every week or every month occurance. There is typically one fundrasier in the fall by the PTA and one in the winter/spring by the Foundation. All of the funds help the children! Dolvin has more technology than any school in the area. It is also an example in the community for environmental education. We are often recognized for this. Not to mention our schools dedication to giving back (Kids Care). Mrs. Zoll is wonderful and our test scores are very high. For a school with quite a bit of diversity, I feel that this school does its best to meet the needs of as much of the student body as possible.
