Principal Anoff has ridden this elementary school into the ground during her 9 years. The easiest fix and example of toxicity is the auditorium doesn't have cooling for the kids' concerts and lunchtime, the water is not safe for consumers, and the principal hides on the ticket that it's a tiny western Howard County school, A small yet active PTA is jockeying the principal for nothing, feeding her crazed ego.

My first of 2 kids is in 5th grade and we are about to start sending our second to K. We were nervous that our last kid would be sent to a neighboring school, which is rated 'better' and is newer. The school building is older and smaller, but we like the family feeling. A number of teachers live in the community and their kids attend school here. Great place to raise a family.

Both my boys goes to this school and I couldn’t be happier. The staff and principal are all wonderful! This schoolreally cares for your child’s education.

When we moved to this community 7 years ago we were blown away by the sense of community and support demonstrated by staff, teachers and parents. Over the last year or two this has drastically changed. I feel shut out as a parent and targeted because I have additional little children that are not yet a part of Lisbon. I do believe our main purpose is education however, having times where the extended family can be included and when the teachers are given the opportunity to think slightly outside the box is important as well.(Humans are not robots and they are not clones either) The benefit of living in a small community is that we embrace and respect our likeness and differences. In times of difficulty we come together in support. We do not discourage family and community. I think our sweet little Lisbon school is becoming just another typical "big city" mentality. The uniqueness and charm is slowly fizzling away. Howard County it's not all about rules and scores!!!!

We moved to this area when our son was in 1st grade - nine years ago. The office staff is beyond magnificent! They answered my 1000 questions with a smile on their face (and still do). I still have children in this school and have loved every aspect. The teachers are sharp, caring, and sincerely interested in the education & well-being of our young students. Thank you thank you thank you for giving our children a great education. (maybe we could talk with the state to get rid of the common core?)

This is a school that really cares about their students. My boys are new here, just moved across the country. and everyone has gone out of their way to make them feel welcome and part of the community. The curriculum is rigorous and challenging. I couldn't be happier to be a parent here!

After transferring to this school, As a parent I was quite pleased. This school is in a Rural Community, yes, but in a safe and well cared for environment. This is not a inner city school. Mr. Winters was very encouraging for my son to start strings in Fifth Grade. The teachers really encourage independence but include the parents in being informed. Our family was very pleased with this school and would have stayed here if we could have. Great PTA activities. Not too little and not too much breathing down your neck for money. I do want to praise the school in regards to observing Veterans Day with local American Legion coming. This is something that tends to go unnoticed but not here!

All of our children have attended this school from K to the present. Our oldest has been through fifth grade. We have others in other grades. The art program is wonderful. The music program is pretty good too. Those who point out the lack of diversity in this area need to remember that it is drawing from primarily rural area. You will not find inner city diversity here. Sorry. They do try to bring that culture to the kids where they can however. The PTA is active and helpful. The school facilities are in reasonable condition. There are problems with county bureaucracy, but that's to be expected. The school teachers are with very few exceptions likable and helpful. The Anti-bullying campaign is flaccid and hopeless, but then I don't put much stock in that sort of thing anyway. In general, our kids have been doing well and our oldest is doing quite well in sixth grade. What more can we say?

There is no unity among parents teachers and administration. Curriculum is outdated and poorly excuted. Art and music teacher are the only highlights of this school. Backwoods mentality no cultural sensitivity...many children in need of services, they wait until it's too late. I do not recommend cominghere if ur child has any special needs minor and major. This school will work for u if ur child loves horses.athletics and is caucasian
