We moved to IOW 3 years ago and had a great experience with WES. We figured WMS would be the same....I could not have been more wrong! 6th grade was OK but, as in the other reviews on here, 7th has been a challenge. My child is well behaved but has suffered verbal abuse from her Special Education teacher that was brought to the Principal's attention....her response..."She wasn't directing it to your child." The bullying problem between students and teachers to students is HORRIBLE! My child also did very well on her report card, even received honor roll 3rd nine weeks....but is in jeopardy of being retained because she MAY NOT have passed the SOLs. I was told, flat out, that some students that technically failed the year will be promoted because of their SOL scores. They want to send her to summer school....what is summer school going to do for her to help her pass the SOLs at the end of the 8th grade? After contacting the school board, my answer....."It is up to the Principal whether she is retained or not!" So where is the justification? Send your child to WMS and see how frustrated you get a week before summer break.

This is my sons 2nd year at WMS. There is a new principal and he is working so hard to help the Middle school grow and improve (not just the teachers and staff, but the kids). As in all schools, it is not perfect but it is on it's way. My son is doing great in the Middle school and I would not send him anywhere else.
