As a parent of a child who attends this school, I am thrilled with the Dual Immersion program. The teachers are professional and have instilled a pride in learning about a 2nd language and culture in my daughter. I am continually impressed with the Principal, Mrs. Tyrone and the secretary, Erica. Mrs. Tyrone is visible, available and friendly. My daughter loves her. The after school program is always very communicative and helpful. Ms. Shellby makes it enjoyable for my daughter.

Principal plays favorites with certain parents, she never or rarely answers emails. She is a terrible principal and has no interest in the concerns parents have. There are a few( others have already retired) good teachers in this school and that is why I'm giving it a 3 star rating because of those teachers that go out of their way to help and listen to the kids.

Great school, principal (Mrs. Gallegos) is awesome, teachers can be a little too traditional but they do take job seriously.

The new principal, Mrs. Gallegos, is awesome!! She is very supportive of the students and teachers! She listens to what the parents have to say and takes action to help!! She gets things done in a positive way with the students' best interest always in mind!

McKibben elementary school is an excellent school. All children are educated according to the most current state standards-based curriculum.

This school was a big disappointment for us. I enrolled my daughter into a first grade class that had 30+ students. My daughter is a fairly quiet child that does her work. I felt that she got ignored for more disruptive students. When she started classes mid school year she was reading around 70 words per minute. By the end of the school year she had dropped to around 50 words per minute. Her math scores also dropped dramatically. Additionally, I saw little emphasis on spelling words which I personally feel is important to build confidence to write. There is a lot of emphasis in writing with Common Core. By the end of the school year I had to transfer my daughter. There was an interim principal that appeared to try to make some effective changes, but she was only temporary and I did not want to take chances with my daughter.

This school is good, but I feel that it could be alot better. There are so many things that they can be doing to get the parents to get involved with the school. Unfortunately, I dont see the enthusiasm that's needed to attract the parents involvement. Also, they should have teachers aids, some times the teacher struggle because they have over 35 students per classroom and no one to help them with the kids. The school has a lot of potential, hopefully things get better for the children's sake.

This school is such a dissapointment to my childrens education. I have too many negative things to say and don't even get me started on the principal.

I am so disappointed with the 1st grade eduction. My daughter started with McKibben in kindergarten and it was an amazing year. I was looking forward for another amazing year in 1st grade but sad to say that is not what happen. My daughter informed me that her teacher does not really speak to her because she has to speak to the other kids that need more help. I do not leave the full responsibilty of teaching to the school, I also work with my daughter on a daily basis but I would also like for the teacher to put some attention to my child. I would love for my daughter to stay at McKibben but I am not willing to risk another bad year. My family moved to whittier for better schooling for my daughter but its so sad to say that we had a bad year.
