Disappointing and Unsafe Environment:This school has failed to provide a safe and supportive environment for my child. Despite multiple reports of bullying, including physical harm and harassment, the administration and staff have done little to intervene or address these serious issues. My daughter, who has a disability, was consistently targeted, and the school’s response was dismissive and inadequate. When I raised concerns, I was met with excuses and a lack of accountability. My child was also blamed by the teacher for the behavior that was being inflicted on her knowing she had a disability and IEP. Even after informing them that my child was unsafe on campus, they continued to insist on attendance, issued a truancy notice despite her being below compulsory school age, and failed to take meaningful action to protect her. It’s clear that this school prioritizes optics over the well-being of its students. If you’re looking for a school that values every child (including special needs children) and addresses bullying effectively, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Great teachers but principal Rivas needs to care more. She signs certificates and letters with a stamp and rarely shows up to school events. She wasn't at TK's graduation and other important events.

Mrs. Rivas, The Principal has Suspended my nephew Twice within the same week. Her reasoning for his suspensions were not from what she has seen herself, but from the word of children that tend to bully my nephew. My nephew also has disabilities which they know about. They also tend to trigger his disabilities of: ODD (OPPOSITIONAL DEFIANT DISORDER), ADD, ADHD, OHI (OTHER HEALTH IMPAIRMENT), & ED (EMOTIONAL DISTURBANCE). They’ve suspended my nephew approximately 5 times this year! The principal herself knows about his disabilities and she still antagonizes him by grabbing him by his arms and has also grabbed his legs before because he was trying to leave the school by climbing the fence. A teacher also pulled a chair from my nephew and made him fall and used him as an example in front of the class room! This is only a small amount of what we’ve experienced here.

Fairly new to the community and never had a problem. Laurel has a lot of ways to keep the parents involved and outreach within the community. My kids have the resources necessary to thrive at Laurel! Shoutout to the staff and Boys and Girls club for all your hard work!

I have been a parent of this school for 13 years. All four of my children have attended Laurel and unfortunately what started out to be a great school has steadily declined over the past 4-5 years. When my oldest daughter started attending this school, the staff valued the student/teacher/parent relationship. Now it seems they are only there to fill the day and the students aren't measuring up to the other schools in the district. Since the current principal came on board the atmosphere has diminished. I am very sad to see this school go downhill so quickly. I am now considering private school for our last child that is entering the fourth grade so that he can improve academically and be successful in middle school.

I don't feel my son is learning what he needs to know at this school. When he started it was great but since changes have occurrd this past year they haven't been great. Rude people in the office and a horrible new principle. I don't see this school going anywhere. Maybe it's time for a change
