As a teacher at Archbishop Stepinac High School, my experience has been deeply frustrating. The quality of education is dismal. The curriculum and instruction are more akin to middle school than high school. Even the best students would struggle to be considered honors-level at a public school. There is a clear lack of academic rigor, and students are rarely challenged to reach their potential.Discipline is another ongoing issue. There is constant fighting among students, and despite teachers' efforts to manage the classroom, the administration is hardly ever present when needed. When difficult students disrupt learning or when we need support, the administration is notably absent. It feels as if the school’s leadership is more concerned with maintaining a facade than actually helping its staff and students.Moreover, the entire school experience feels like a performance. From the open houses to graduations, it’s clear the focus is on appearances. The school is more about putting on a show for parents and potential donors than about fostering a supportive and enriching environment for learning.One of the most frustrating aspects of this school is how athletics seems to dominate everything. Decisions, resources, and attention are all funneled into the sports programs, while academic and behavioral issues are sidelined. It creates a toxic culture where athletes are prioritized, leaving non-athletic students and teachers to struggle without support.In conclusion, Archbishop Stepinac fails to deliver on its promises. It’s an institution where academic rigor and student well-being are secondary to appearances and athletics. As a teacher, I feel unsupported and disheartened by the lack of commitment to genuine educational improvement. I would not recommend this school to parents or prospective educators.

My son is a junior and has had a great experience at Stepinac. The teachers and staff truly care about the boys and their well-being and growth. It is a technology oriented school - the extensive use of technology within the curriculum has helped my son tremendously and engaged him in learning. He is being appropriately academically challenged. The sports and fine arts programs are solid.

My son in a senior in college now and Archbishop Stepinac prepared him well. Stepinac has racial, religious and economic diversity which helped my son to appreciate difference and will help him in the future. Like another reviewer, we also heard "you never hear anything bad about Stepinac." It is true because the administration takes action immediately when problems do arise.

I am currently a 9th. grader at the school. I was afraid to go to high school because of bulling issues in the past but at Stepinac I felt welcomed right away. The teachers work with you and honestly care about the students. You can tell a lot about a school when you feel comfortable enough to speak with the principal regarding any issues ( no one likes to visit the principals office. The teachers want you to excell so they offer their services to tutor you during the week. Being a minority had me a little concerned at first but the color of my skin has not been an issue, I am judged on my academics and the respect that I give the staff and the students. I commend the principal and the staff for going out of their way to make sure that we become successful in life and I thank them for not giving up on us. The staff understands that we have our days at times but the encouragement, commitment and dedication that we receive deserves a big grateful thank you. Thanks again, Brandonn Baez

As an alumni I can recommend Stepinac. It is a college prep school so keep that in mind. If your kid is hard working then you shouldn't have any issues. If you are looking for the school to fix your kid then you need some place else.
