I didn't find this school to be particularly bad or good. It was average overall. I did find their special needs department to be below average. I had a child with an IEP. The team didn't listen to my input as to what I knew was and wasn't effective teaching styles/personalities for my child. I did not feel part of the team to help my child be successful. And because of this, my child struggled terribly there. It was very frustrating. On of my child's teacher's way of dealing with the diagnosed adhd/anxiety was to have my child sit in the hallway alone at a desk in the corner for much of the day. On the contrary, Edison Middle school's case worker did listen to my input (as does WWSHS now) and I am happy with my child's progress at both the middle and high school.

I was a past student at this school, and my little brother still attends. It's a good school, but I pretty worried for my little brother, because he's absolutely not ready for middle school, I can already tell. They don't give much homework, excluding advanced learning programs of course, and the classes are okay, but I feel like they could have done more to make it more fun. I was in the advanced reading class, and it was very effective. Believe it or not, there were actually a lot more bullying cases than in Edison Middle School (the middle school the kids attend after Lincoln). The counselor didn't really deal with that stuff, if she was even able to be called a counselor. The biggest thing they need to work on is getting the kids ready for middle school instead of just saying "It'll be harder in middle school." Any children who really struggle with new things or change will get really stressed out and confused when going to middle school.

I love this school! We moved to Wheaton 3 years ago, purely for the schools and we couldn't be happier with our decision. I've had 3 kids attend the school, and love the teachers and principal. They all have a lot of energy and truly care. The knew the kids' names right away, and the parents' names too. They do a lot of community building, and make learning fun.

We have had three children in this school and generally been very satisfied. The principal is competent and works hard. The teachers have mostly been well-qualified, good to work with, and competent. I don't think there is much innovation at the school; it's pretty straightforward teaching. I agree with the comment from 2009 that the school struggles with diversity. There are no teachers of color and little awareness of the issues of diversity. There have been a few classrooms where our kids have not gotten strong math or writing instruction, but they've had more positive experiences than negative. I would recommend this school to anyone, but would caution families of color to ask a lot of questions and know what they're getting into.

Wonderful little school with great teachers. The principal is very involved and supportive of her staff, teachers and the parents. She knows all the kids and families. Great community of parents who help out regularly. The teachers are good with the kids and our kids are learning and growing by leaps and bounds. Great school.
