I had 2 children attend this school all three years and it was fine for one and a nightmare for the other. We received no support from the school regarding the bullying that was taking place for my child. Regardless of multiple calls and emails nothing was done to help the situation. My husband and I had to try to diffuse the situation. Teachers seem to have their favorites as well and we have been on both ends of the spectrum with that. Needless to say it was such a relief when both kids were out of there and started highschool. This was over 10 years ago so hopefully it has gotten much better since then but from what I have heard it has not.

It has been only about a week since the school started but it is all about failure. Meet the teacher night was chaos…Front office and the principal!!!! is far from finding solutions. Drop off and pick up takes forever. In the afternoon kids wait outside. They don’t even call names so kids get ready. I don’t know what happens in rainy or in freezing cold days.

I've had two children attend West Pine Middle School from 6th grade to 8th grade, both children flourished at West Pine Middle School. There has been a change is administration while my youngest was in 6th grade 3 years ago, and it improved an already great school. Teachers are happy to be at the school, students are greeted with smiles and "good morning" as they are being dropped off. The office staff is helpful and encouraging. Every teacher I have encountered have wanted the best for each student and are vested in every student's success. There are great band, orchestra, chorus, art and musical theatre programs as well as strong stem and language arts classes. Parents are encouraged to meet with teachers about any concerns and there are opportunities to be involved if you are interested through Principal Advisory Council and School Improvement Team. Middle school years are tough, but I found West Pine Middle School to be a great school and experience for my children.

I have two children currently enrolled in West Pine Middle. My oldest is getting ready to graduate and the other is right behind her next year. I have read some of the comments about the school and I for one am not sure where the negative comments come from. Whenever I have needed assistance from the staff or teachers they have always been extremely receptive and helpful. Both of my children are straight A students and the oldest is already going to HS with honors courses lined up. I grew up with a bad school district and this is not a bad school. All of this nonsense about not caring for children of color is all bs. These folks care about all the children here. Parents need to be parents and not have administrative staff play that role. Everyone has a right to an opinion but not their own facts. If the school is so bad why are kids pushing onto the high school already set up for honors classes and then heading to major universities?

I’m not exaggerating when I say this is one of the worst schools my daughters attend. A lot of the teachers are downright mean to the students. As an example, before Covid, in the mornings during student drop off, The teachers are in such a foul mood that they’re yelling at all the children who aren’t fast enough get out of the car and yelling at the parents as well. I had a teacher go up and slam her hands on the hood of my car because I went to the wrong spot. Rarely will you get a callback. I’ve been trying to get help with Power School forever. The front desk is just as bad. Calling that place has never been a pleasant experience. Don’t get me started about bullying.

Terrible they are cruel to many students who don’t fit the mold of what they want to present as what’s really happening at the school

My son has been at this for 2 years( his 7th school as a military child) we love the school, the teachers have been great in communicating. I can check his grades at home anytime on PowerSchool and I feel they give him the tools he needs to succeed. They offer great after school programs from sports to other clubs. The coaching and teachers have been great. No complaints.... other then the bus situation in the county as a whole

My child attended both West Pine Elementary and West Pine Middle, with terrible results. My child continued to slip behind, with little care from the teachers or the administration. They smile to your face, but behind your back they relocate your child away from all the other students to 'help them focus.' Imagine the horror I felt when one teacher told me that my child 'works better in the hallway.' They ignored repeated requests for a special education evaluation, even though I now understand that they MUST refer if a parent requests it. It is difficult when a group of teachers and administrators are so pleasant and nice to your face, but ignore the law, and your child, when you aren't looking. The stories I heard from the children made me wonder if we shouldn't put cameras in every classroom...

I gave 4 stars because I believe the teachers genuinely are doing their best to help students succeed in a healthy and wholesome way. I found teachers to be helpfull, professional and genuinely concerned about the difficulties students have to face. They are working hard to keep test scores up, which is important in this failing economy. They offer a variety of after-school activities, and communicate weekly announcements with an automated phonecall. On the other side I do believe there is room for improvement, too many students per class and not enough individual instructions. A lot of work falls onto the parent, I don't know how students are able to succeed if they don't have parenteral support. Students are able to choose between different subjects to better meet their individual interests, like band, art, computer, carreer and AIG. The library staff is very helpfull and there are many books to choose from by students. The need for additional funds is obvious by the many fundraising activities that are ongoing. But most importantly I like the school because I am able to correspond with the teachers via email, they return all inquiries and ask if there is anything else I need.
