My daughter is about to complete Universal Pre-Kindergarten from State Rd. We have had a 100% positive experience; she has grown and developed amazingly. Miss Schimpf and Mrs Schenkel are incredible teachers. She LOVED every day of it. I absolutely would recommend to any parent unsure about UPK, it is SO worthwhile. My daughter is ready now for kindergarten, and I don't feel worried about it. She has been placed in a different school for kindergarten, and I do feel somewhat sad to leave State Road. In our experience- it's a fantastic school.

The poster from 2015 hit the nail on the head in every regard. In a school district that is as seemingly reputable as WCSD, it should not even be an option for a building like State Road to be as inadequate as it is. If you live in the district, or a re moving into the district and can avoid sending your children to this school, save yourself (and your children) the trouble of learning these things first hand.

My son just completed kindergarten at State Road School. Mrs. Jacquie Smith is an exceptional teacher! My son came to school knowing how to read (he is on the older end for kindergarten, a December birthday) and she differentiated his work in order to challenge him. She did the same with his math work. She did it for all of the children in her kindergarten class based on their abilities! She is wonderful!!! This school encourages parent involvement and thus produces a sense of community and belonging. We love State Road Elementary!

The State Road Elementary School experience is extremely disappointing.Students are not challenged to reach anywhere near their full academic potential at State Road. As long as your child reaches a minimum level of proficiency that is good enough; and that bar is exceedingly low. Academic enrichment opportunities are non-existent and there are very few worthwhile extracurricular opportunities (unless you're into bible study and cheerleading).Teachers and Administration are often very dismissive and defensive when approached with legitimate concerns from parents or students. Parents and students pick up on this unprofessional and toxic attitude that is pervasive at State Road and stop being enthusiastic participants. The joy of learning is replaced with "don't make any waves" mindset. And this ambivalence leads to low participation by parents, students, and teachers in optional activities like PTSA and the Science Fair. The building itself is pretty uninspiring with sanitarium tiling for walls, depressingly low ceilings and the highlight being a windowless underground doomsday bunker for a cafetorium. (And doomsday rations would be healthier than the food served there)In summary, don't let the 5 star reviews nor excessive pride in this school fool you as they are both undeserved. If your child leaves State Road Elementary School with a good education and enthusiastic attitude toward learning it is in spite of this school, not because of it.

We built our home in Webster on six acres near this school so our children could start school at State Road. We looked at all the schools with building land near them and State Road to us was the best we toured. Our son just completed grade K and is moving up to first grade in the fall. The teachers here are wonderful, I was able to help out my sons class one afternoon a week and it was fantastic. Mrs. Smith 110% encourages her Kinder children to love school and to read as many books as they can each week. Our son thanks to her is reading at a level eight! I can not believe he tested so high and I can not thank her enough for all the compassion she shows her two classes each and every school day. The Principal is so caring for each child in her school. On the days I volunteer each week she is walking the halls and constanly visiting the classrooms to see how the teachers and students are doing.
