My daughter has been going to this school since Kindergarten, and I have noticed that this school has not one black staff member, which is bothersome. My daughter is in 5th grade now and has voiced that she no longer wants to go to school because one of the teachers in her class has been targeting her. Being rude and nasty to my daughter! I have asked two other students which are my daughters friends have they witnessed the teacher targeting my daughter, in which they both confirmed. I don’t believe black children at this school are equally educated as the white children, nor do black children have the proper resources. I have also reached out to the superintendent via email and phone call, and never received a follow up email nor call back in regards to my concerns! I am looking into relocating my daughter.

The school administrators as well as the teachers are wonderful. In addition to this, the brand new building has provided the students and teachers with a needed upgrade which they can savor for years! The school is diverse and caters to students in a very thoughtful way. They are welcoming and have an improvement mindset which is important for any individual or organization to keep progressing.

The Hosmer has been a really great school for my 2 boys. The teachers that I have had the pleasure to work with have been wonderful. I would like to see the library get updated with new books and maybe some new shelves.

My daughter is now in 5th grade and we've loved every year we spent at this school. It has a real strong community, excellent teachers and staff. This school taught her to love reading books and to be very creative. Also a great music program.

Needs Some Improvement, Please: At a recent PTO meeting, the Principal noted *I like to be right*. I think avenues for school growth get closed off when the focus is on *right* answers; everyone gains when the Principal becomes a *learning* leader rather than a *needs to be right* administrator. Some additional aspects of the school deserve a fresh look: - Suggest building more diversity in staff: There's remarkable homogeneity in the teaching staff, with a lack of gender and ethnic diversity. By contrast, the aftershool program demonstrates remarkable diversity, and nearby private schools show better gender balance. -Approach to MCAS could move from excuses to higher aspirations: The Principal noted at the last PTO meeting that results are not really comparable year over year due to changes in the school population. While this could be true at the class level, it's not likely true at the grade level. She can target higher aspirations to get more gains. - Needs to learn approaches to treat parents as partners rather than outsiders: When problems occur in classrooms, they can be hidden, dismissed as individual events, or surfaced & improved. Let's see more of the latter, please.
