Worst nightmare. The whole school is indifferent, from the teachers to the principle. Every time we enter the door, we wonder why the tstaff chose the job they seem to care nothing about. The best decision ever.

I don't know how they get 7/10, they should be 1/10 or 2/10 at most.

My son went to JuniorKindergarten here. He was looking forward enthusiastically to go to school everyday. The afterschool program had a great choice to select from. The teachers, prinicipal and the administrative staff, all were cheerful and helping. Unfortunately, our family had to move out of MA due to a job change and my son is still relishing his happy memories of Haggerty school!

I'm sorry to see the negative feedback of one reviewer. We could not be happier with our experience at Haggerty and every family I know feels similarly. I know that issues arise, but we have made lovely friends and the greater community of Haggerty has become like family. My son is thriving in Kindergarten. The JK teacher is phenomenal. The school is urban and therefore diverse and yet feels so small and even suburban. Teachers and principals greet students and parents every morning and that warmth continues throughout the day.Academically my son is doing amazingly well. He is smart for his age and is challenged and yet still given time to play and explore. Can't say enough good things!!!

Underneath a facade of warm, smiling faces that greet you at school, there's a shuddering cold oblivion to (some?) families and students' needs by the administration.Communication between the school and families is mostly handled by a family liaison member of the staff; that's primarily what her job is, to communicate with families. Unfortunately, she is VERY selective about whose queries to attend to. Many times over, inquiries about ordering of certain products (e.g. DVD for school wide concert) or school-wide events are simply not replied to. The better bet is to communicate directly with the teachers but unfortunately, a lot of school-wide issues are not under the teachers' "jurisdiction." (This is a very small community, with an average of 2 classes of 20 students per grade. Schools with enrollments five times larger, that I have experience with, communicate much better with parents.)This is a school that does not place much emphasis on academics. Students of higher caliber are made to *regress* down (literally) to the mean. Students of higher caliber are not given any higher level materials as the attention of the teachers are drained by students who need extra help. No support is given to those students who are more able. The teachers are the only saving grace. The teachers of my kids care about them genuinely and are always cordial and respectful with the parents. Just grateful to have these teachers, I don't dare ask for anything else from this school as that would be mere wishful thinking.

My 3 kids have been in this school since Kindergarten and the eldest is preparing to leave in 6th grade. There is a great community of teachers and parents that has supported this school through the transitions from a wonderful principal to a controversial one, and now the search for another new principal. The inclusion of kids with special needs has been great for our kids who now think nothing of hanging out with people that have learning disabilities. There is also a good racial mix of kids at the school which was important to us. In the midst of all this diversity our concern was that we would miss out on academic rigor but having toured other schools for the transition to 7th grade are seeing this wasn't the case. The success of this school is really a testament to the excellent teachers and administrators who have kept the school on course. My hope is the school will be able to retain the 6th grade which has been a delightful year for our eldest, but they need to be able to offer viable choices for kids transitioning to middle school.
