They do not support special needs students appropriately. This school is not safe. The little kids are bullied by the older kids daily without anyone to go to for safety. I'm talking about 4th graders seeking out 1st graders to harass every day. Teachers and administration refuse to respond to parents. The school lacks any positive engagement with parents. I would not feel good about sending my kids here.

Previous principal was ok, not good with holding students accountable, but the kids liked him. New principal in 2nd year here, Mr. Keen, is very involved in all aspects of the school and more hands on. He holds kids responsible and works to correct wrong behaviors. I have seen so many changes for the better with him in there. He is great with the kids and they adore him, and communication with the parents is amazing. I love the layout of the school itself , and that it is smaller in scale of students who attend. My favorite part is each classroom has a bathroom and drinking fountain. I have been very pleased with the cleanliness and the policies put in place for Covid, my kid feels safe there, which makes me feel safe as well. The front desk staff is very helpful, and treats all the kids like their own.The teachers....I can not praise them enough. We have loved everyone our daughter has had so far. They challenge the kids, and work with all different levels within one class. While each one may teach slightly different they have all been great with catering to students learning needs. They all truly care about their kids, even when they move on to the next grade. My daughter is reading 2 grade levels ahead, and is continuing to advance. Thanks to them continuing to teach her more. She is testing above state average levels. And most importantly she loves going to school.

Pinewood is a great school and has great staff! I have two kids enrolled in this school A fourth grader and a first grader, and they both love going to school everyday. Although this year with the new principal the email reminders are not as good as they were last year, as most parents have full time jobs and are very busy with after school activities it's hard to remember everything and these emails are not getting sent out as often as they were last year.

Mr. Sikora has made considerable improvements to the school. I am proud of this excellent neighborhood school and could not be happier with my child's progress.

Pinewood is an excellent school. Mrs. Farrell Mrs.G and Mrs. Ansell are wonderful loving teachers. My son is in the SLI speech learning impairment program at Pinewood. These 3 teachers are so caring and helped me and my son Eric alot!!! I would love for Eric to stay at Pinewood until he graduates. MISD speech program only provides transportation until the child reaches fourth grade. Thank you Pinewood teachers and staff for everything you have done for Eric!

Kindergarten classes are all at full capacity. Few if any parent volunteers. Overwhelmed teachers. Poor communication (no electronic communications with the school, weekly newsletter lacks detail, no follow-up on events until the day before. Only found out in January, that the school has been selling pencils, erasers, toys, etc in the cafeteria at lunch since the beginning of the year and that the kids are supposed to bring cash to buy this stuff. I found out when my child burst in to tears because he is always left out because he didn't bring money. Maybe if you had a bright 5th grader they could read and understand what was going on themselves, but for a parent of a young student, I feel like I am out of the loop even though I am trying.
