I have been going to this school for a long time and learned a lot in the beginning but the school has on a downward spiral when they started hiring teachers with no experience, no license, and that do not know how to teach children. Most of the children in 6-12 grade are failing, behind in work, or both and the staff put it all on us, students. They are having us do online work called Ignitia. They threw us into this online mess little to no guidance. On top of that, all the teachers did in our online classes in the first half of the year is sit and make sure we were not on banned websites but when you go to the Ignitia you can CLEARLY SEE that it was meant as a tool for the teachers not to be the teacher. The homework is reasonable and the character building exercises are not that bad but it does NOT leadership skills and does NOT deal well with bullying. I have been getting bullied at this school since 5th grade and whenever I tolled a teacher or the principal I was pushed to the side like nothing ever happened until recently but it took them 5 years for them to recognize the there was an actual problem. .Overall I would give this school a 2 out of 5 because even though it is not the worst school I would never recommend this school to anyone until it changes.

Our son graduated from Valley Stream Christian Academy. We are SO grateful for the Christian education that our son received. He has made lifelong friends and still has a relationship with some of the staff members. We couldn't be happier with our experience at the school. It really is a school of academic excellence and spiritual passion.

As a parent that works in the NYC schools I have to say that I am very pleased. The staff is very professional, they are very involved with the students one to one and even though my son may have had some issues they were able to address the matter in the most professional and christian way. In overall I highly recommend this school with the highest grade. These teachers and staff care and pray deligently for our children greatly and who does not want that in this fallen world. Be blessed.....

I am very impressed with the atmosphere and community at VSCA.Compared to other schools I've worked at, particularly public schools, VSCA has a strong sense of community. I see signs of true camaraderie and friendship between teachers and their students. Administration works hard to foster partnerships between faculty and parents, and the parents I have interacted with are both supportive and encouraging of the faculty. VSCA is a smaller school, true, but I have seen how hard the staff and faculty work to create and maintain the spirit of a much larger school. The students here have formals, spirit weeks, field trips, student-vs.-teacher volleyball games, and many other community bonding opportunities. In addition, VSCA has a strong commitment to the spiritual growth of the students. I have seen how the faculty prays over the student body every morning, how Bible study is worked into the core curriculum, how chapel becomes the focal point of the week, and how a student's spiritual needs take precedent over all other concerns. The thing that impressed me most, however, is the faculty's commitment to academic excellence. Members of the staff are encouraged to go beyond each grade's requirements, and to help students to push the boundaries of their capabilities. Older grades are introduced to college-level research papers and essays. Yes, students will complain about the difficulty of the work they are doing, but when they reach college, they will appreciate how well they have been prepared.God willing, when my own children are old enough, I will be sending them to VSCA. I recommend this school to any parents looking for a quality Christian education for their children.

My child who had been a student there did not share with me till later of the psychological effects that students in my child's class impose upon my child because of cliquish attitudes & much favoritism of teachers with students who are in with the church leaders. I did see some of that on my own but it was worse than I thought. It could be a good school if they could only get over themselves & show true Christianity instead of applying rules that do not apply fairly to all.

This school is awful. Unfortunately, I have been attending here for over 5 years. Throughout elementary, it was not so bad. Once middle school started, I realized what I've been putting up with. Just because the school name has "Christian" in it, don't let it fool you. I know this is 1 bad review out of the other positive reviews, but you may want to consider this. First of all, the school's "property" is very limited. Your child is going to be getting an education in a church building with a couple rooms that have been made into wanna be classrooms and a gym the size of my living room and kitchen combined; which is not that big at all. Once they reach Jr and high school, it gets even better, they'll get their education in a basement! With about 6 small rooms with guarded windows as if you're in a prison cell, a ridiculous small lunch room which is also used for classes. Each grade has about 10-15 students, maybe even less. Starting in 6th grade, it will be very similar to public school as in cliques will form, everyone will know everyone's business since it's such a small school, gossip on gossip on gossip, etc. 80% of the kids in this school swear and act like they aren't christians behind the staff's back. Funny because the student and a parent is requires to be christian to be accepted... The teachers are dedicated to their students, but with the student life going on in class, no one really cares. Just because your child will get a 45 minute class about Jesus maybe 2-4 times a week, do not spend $500-600 (the tuition goes up about every year) a month. They charge you for everything here. $3 to wear normal clothes instead of uniform, nonstop fundraisers, special events etc. Their falicities weren't made to be a school!!! I would do anything to get out of there. Pls don't send your kids here

My child graduated from VSCA a few years ago and has stayed in contact with many of his teachers. He got in to the college of his choice and graduated Magna Cum Laude. When he was in VSCA, he complained about how much work he had to do. After his first semester in college, he went back to the school and thanked his teachers-- he was one of the only kids in his class that could even write a quality paper. More important than the academics, he was challenged SPIRITUALLY. The Bible and prayer are a priority there.

I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a QUALITY CHRISTIAN education. I have two children in the school and am so grateful for this school. They have certified qualified teachers who are not only preparing them for college, but preparing them for life. The small class sizes provide a custom education. The teachers always go above and beyond for the children. The teachers also PRAY for my children! The leadership is Christ centered and continually striving for excellence academically and spiritually. The students are taught to serve God, each other and the community.. and are led by example. My children are blessed to have VSCA....a school unlike any other!

My three children have been attending Valley Stream Christian Academy since kindergarten and pre-k. My eldest daughter just graduated from the school, got accepted to the schools of her choice, with academic scholarships! Curriculum is very challenging, but teachers are wonderfully prepared to effectively teach. Despite living in a very good school district, we would not have our children in another school.

Nice but untrained staff. Challenging curriclum requirs teachers trained to offer such a curriculum. he saff here are not equipped to truly prepare children for the future in a professional world. Racist leadership.
