My son has been enrolled at this school since for several years and our initial experience was great but it is no longer. Their a support staff is not friendly or welcoming and I do not recommend this school.

We have loved our time at Andy Woods! The staff is very kind and welcoming, always remembering parents and siblings when we come in. Our daughter’s teachers have been so wonderful!! Only good things to say about this school

We could not love Woods more! The staff goes above and beyond and it is so comforting to know our child is in the best hands. We are so very thankful we get to attend Woods and for the top notch education our children receive.

I have never experienced a school with as much love, compassion, and grace as Andy Woods. Andy Woods is so much more than just a school it is a close-knit community / family. The principal and teachers truly care for each student and parent. I've never felt more welcomed at a school- from the students and teachers opening the doors each morning with a "good morning have a great day", to the principal and or assistant principals standing at the entrance offering words of encouragement as you enter in the building, to being able to walk your child to his classroom each day and say hello to your child's teacher. These little details that Andy Woods pays attention to sets them apart from EVERY other school in TISD. Andy Woods is truly phenomenal. I believe this school is set apart from all others in large part due to the heart of their fearless leader Ms. Jones. She genuinely has a heart of gold. I love how Andy Woods does not want anyone to feel left out. For example, this year during the book fair the school created a fund parents could send money to provide books for children that had not received one on the last day of the book fair. It's so heartwarming to see this school care not only about our children's academic future but also instill values of dignity, integrity, and compassion. In addition to having an amazing principal Andy Woods has exceptional teachers. Mrs. Rachel Diaz works tirelessly to ensure each kindergarten student has every opportunity /resource available to succeed. I love her passion for teaching it truly shines though in each of the children as they are excited to go to school to learn. What a wonderful foundation for learning she has set! Mrs. Diaz, Ms. Jones, and the entire staff at Andy Woods Elementary are truly God sent miracle workers. I am so thankful for each and every one of the members of this incredible team.

Woods Elementary has far surpassed any and all expectations I had for my child's education. I have personally worked at several elementary campuses and this is where I feel my child will have the best experience. Staff morale is high which trickles down to student success and happiness. My child reads above grade level, and I was originally worried that she would get bored. However, over the past two years, her teachers, and the campus as a whole, have been able to differentiate instruction for my child so that she remains engaged and excited to learn. She looks forward to going to school every day and is always excited to talk about what she has learned and the activities she participated in throughout the day. There are also many activities throughout the year for student enrichment in other areas. PE, music, and art are definite highlights in my child's day and I'm so glad that she is getting a well-rounded education that includes not only academics, but also physical health, fine arts, and social-emotional skills. Besides the education, we have also been very pleased with the parent engagement. Parents are invited to take part in the PTA as well as activities throughout the year like field day, Parents in PE, class parties, and the Spring Carnival. Teachers have been very communicative and keep parents informed. I always feel welcome on campus and love that I get to be part of my child's education.

I WOULDN’T RECOMMEND ANDY WOODS TO ANYONE NOT EVEN MY PET. THEY ACT LIKE THEY TRYING TO HELP YOU WHEN THEY DONT. THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL DOESNT GIVE THE PARENT ANY SAY SO IN THE DECISION OF YOUR CHILD THEY ONLY INVOLVE THE PARENT WHEN THEY TRY AND FIND A REASON TO SEND YOUR CHILD TO ISS. IF YOUR CHILD HAS A LEARNING DISABILITY 504 etc THIS IS NOT THE SCHOOL TO SEND YOUE CHILD THEY WILL NOT HELP. YOUE CHILD GRADES WILL GO UP THEN THEY WILL SAY THEY FAILED MY CHILD CRIES BECAUSE SHE DOESNT WANT TO GO TO THE SCHOOL

Terrible. Two kids, four years apart. First was ADD kid, advanced reader in kindergarten, they plugged the child into a computer game as "accommodation" for their advanced reading. Second child was ADHD child and was sent to the office daily for playing/being distracted. School was about to kick them out and we were forced by school to get child diagnosed and medicated in order for her to stay. Note that the child never effected other children or property negatively. Not once. Most teachers Loved her, until one teacher told her she was a bad kid, and sent her to the principal, who supported to me, the parent that if she didn't want to be told she was a bad kid, that she had to do exactly what she is told and stop being a bad kid. Mrs Jones is an abhorrent human being and should be nowhere near children.

My kids adored this school. They loved their teachers and my oldest with autism did above and beyond with his teacher. Now......the bad rating. This is due to the fact that staff absolutely lack communication skills. After 3 calls and also speaking with a teacher about how to secure a place at this school next year. I was told, every single time, that they were fine. That there wasn't anything to worry about. Well, we are a week away from the first day of school and I've been told that they cannot go to this school. Why? Because apparently there was paper work that I needed to fill out to secure them a spot. Wow. Just wow. So after 3 calls and a teacher verifying that everything was a-ok, I'm being told that they just can't go. Now, if you have an autistic child or know anything about autism you will understand the absolute heart break of me having to tell him that he needs to uproot and go to a completely different school with all new faces. It's already hard enough for him to go to a place that he is familiar with..let alone an entirely new enviroment. This is a nightmare. No one is taking responsibility. Only pointing fingers at me telling me that I should have known the schools policy.

We love this school! The new principal, Mr. Chandler, is amazing and the staff is wonderful. I would reccommend this school to anyone. My son has had a wonderful experience with the different classes that are offered and has excelled under his current teacher. The PTA is a great organization to be involved with and the parents are very involved.
