Tyler Classical Academy is a great school.There are small classes with positive teacher/ student involvement. Love this place.Would definitely recommend.

Tyler Classical Academy is a great school! They’ve added many programs in the last couple of years such as theatre and sports. Instead of doing the minimum, Tyler Classical goes above and beyond and offers a more challenging experience for the students. You can tell the teachers really care.

I had great hopes for this school. The previous headmaster gave a great sales pitch but our experience was anything but. We have had 5 of our kids enrolled for a few years now. They range in grades from 12th down to 1st. For upper campus they don't have an effective plan to graduation. If they don't have a class for you they put you in a "study hall". One of our kids had 3 "study hall" classes in one semester!Another one of our kids is in pre Calc. But they don't have a teacher so he and several other students teach themselves in the library or work on other class work. The headmaster had no idea 3 months in that this was happening- then did nothing to change it. They require you to take classes even if you have enough to graduate- think $$. They only get paid if your kid is in class.The current headmaster is unapproachable and doesn't interact with the kids. The teachers may or may not have any experience in the subjects they teach (most teach more than one). Most teachers are not certified teachers. The lack of professional teachers often shows in how the classrooms are run. There is very little extracurricular activities - singing and acting is all - but the instructors may take several of the main parts.Upper campus PE is a joke! Walk around and do nothing or sit at the tables. The gym is always full of elementary students so upper campus kids never have access to it. The large field out front is just that a field - soccer goals have been removed. The kids aren't taught any sports or games during PE.Lower campus education seems to be a little better. However, they too have their problems. The play area is so small classes take alternating days to use the play structure. Not your day? Here is a ball. When the school was planned out they left almost no room for recess time.They only get 30 min of outside time per day. The remaining time is in class. I don't mind uniforms - however you have to buy from their approved seller and spend $20 or more per shirt. For one kid this is no big deal but for 5 this breaks the bank - better hope they don't change the colors next year because you'll buy more uniforms. They've changed uniforms 3 times in the past 4 years. BUYER BEWARE their current approved shirt is 100% cotton so don't dry it or it will shrink 2 sizes in 2 weeks!I really had great hopes for this school after moving to Tyler. Unfortunately after giving it a chance for several years all I am left with is disappointment.

Teachers are overworked and poorly supported. Administration is absent unless they are getting on to a teacher. There is no discipline plan. Kids are sent to the office and instead of discipline they are given toys and prizes, at least in the lower campus. Teachers effectiveness is hindered by the fact that the school doesn't give them adequate supplies or support. You've heard stories of teachers spending hundreds of dollars out of pocket to stock their class? This is the place they were talking about.

Vista Academy is a wonderful school. Education is only one of the components of their curriculum. They stress the importance of social skills, appropriate behavior, as well as preparing them for college. The teachers and staff are amazing and more than qualified to do their job, which they do every day to the fullest. Children are respected, and each child's education is individualized to ensure that they are prepared to move on to the next grade, as well as top rated colleges in the future. My children have benefited a great deal from this school, and I recommend Vista Academy to every person that I meet that has school-age children. Vista has a wonderful principal. He is involved and creates an enriched learning environment for all students. He provides structure and guidance to all the students, and even takes more time out for those who need it. I have watched him take the extra steps with children who may not be getting all the support they need in other areas of their life, and guide them onto the path for success. This is a great school, and we were lucky to find it. And the posts that have been removed, were because they were false, and slander.

This is clearly a school that goes above and beyond to academically prepare students for college. Each child is evaluated case by case and prepared a learning plan suited to his/her needs. The child's progress is frequently monitored and adjusted according to their performance. I like the small class and school size and feel the children are receiving the attention they need to build a solid foundation for higher learning.

Vista Academy is a super wonderful place!! My child loves ALL the staff! As a parent, I think the entire staff does an exceptional job! I love the fact that the learning environment is personalized for each child!
