My son is in a MD classroom. He had loved preschool the few years he attended & started to hate school the moment he started attending Cookson Elementary. There have been some questionable happenings between staff & my son & at a point left my son refusing to go to school because of a “mean” teacher. I honestly hope the district does some major reforms to this school as they are well needed.

My daughter is currently at the end of 3rd grade. She's been at Cookson since Kindergarten. She's not a special needs child but I have seen the handicap children there and they seem to be very accommodating in school and field trips but I can't speak for help with education. My daughter loves school and ever day when she hits the car I ask how was school and her answer is always great, or excellent. I love this school. I've not had one issue with any staff. The principle is great, the nurse is wonderful and I've always loved the teachers. I've raised 2 boys in the Kettering and Piqua school district and hated it! Troy's Cookson is a breath of fresh air indeed! I love Troy and the school system. I don't ever want to move.

I just wanted to respond to the special education needs that have been discussed. I too am a parent of a special needs child and have no difficulties what so ever obtaining what I need for him. The staff have gone above and beyond time and again to meet his needs. The new principal has been spectacular and both my children, enjoy attending school each day. The key I feel to my success has been open communication with the teachers and personal involvement in the success of my childrens education. The teachers and school have a part to play, but so do I. Together as team, we have made the best decisions and have had the best outcomes that I could have hoped for.

Both of my children went to Cookson Elementary and it was a great experience for both of them. The staff is warm, caring and knowledgeable. My kids still like to stop in and visit their teachers and talk fondly of their days as a Cookson Tiger.

New leadership and direction. Good move. Changes are already occurring that will make this a great school.

My son went to Cookson for K-5 & he had a wonderful experience there. We moved when he was in 3rd grade & I open enrolled him to make sure he stayed @ Cookson. The staff was always available & willing to help if we ever needed anything. To this day when we run into teachers they remember not only him but also my husband & I.
