Since when, anyone can become a new teacher at the school? Even these people with psychological problems and no common sense can be new teachers now?

In my opinion, there are a few teachers who are lack of teaching work experience and lack of the quality to be teacher in Hawkins Temp TK (Transitional Kindergarten) Campus. From my point of view, the parents should watch out, because they might cause the damage to the families.

I am really happy to share my amazing experience with the School. It's an incredible place for kids to learn and grow. As a parent, I searched for a school that could provide a great education and help my child develop into a well-rounded person. Tom Hawkins School went above and beyond my expectations and is truly excellent.Right from the start, the staff and teachers at Tom Hawkins School were friendly and welcoming. They genuinely care about the students and want them to succeed. The academics at Tom Hawkins School are outstanding. The teachers are really smart and know how to make learning fun. They teach a wide range of subjects using modern methods. They also encourage students to think for themselves and be creative, which is really important for the future.Besides academics, the school offers lots of activities for kids to explore their interests and talents. They have sports, arts, music, and more. These activities help students learn important skills like working together as a team and being strong even when things are tough. The school makes it easy for parents to stay involved. They have meetings with teachers, report on how the kids are doing, and they're always open to talking. This helps parents and the school work together to help students succeed. To sum it up, Tom Hawkins School is amazing. It has great teachers, fun activities, and a strong community. If you want a school that will help your child learn, grow, and be ready for the future, Tom Hawkins School is the place to be. It's an investment in your child's education that will pay off for life.Regenerate response

I had no idea this site existed otherwise I would have left my review years ago, just to have my voice heard finally. I’ve been at this school for 11 years, but this is my last. Honestly, the school has struggled in more recent years, but it wasn’t always like that. It used to be a wonderful school with a great support system. Looking at the scores on this site, it makes me sad that they have fallen so much. When my oldest child started at the school I believe it was an 8 or a 7. Now it is a 5? I think that speaks for itself. Thank you though to some of the wonderful teachers who have made a difference, I hope you know who you are.

There are some wonderful teachers at Hawkins. The primary grades seem to be the absolute best, and there are a bunch in the upper grades. The issue I think lies with the main administrator. We hope things get better.

Overall, it’s nice to see my son doing better. Teachers could spend a little more time keeping parents informed on how to access assignments that are due with sufficient information on how to do the assignment as well. Aeries needs to be updated more often. There is no reason things should go ungraded for weeks at a time and then suddenly an A is a D when the teacher finally decided to input informations the trimester just ended and I received my sons report card with final grades, but his math class still has an ungraded assignment which may or may not have bumped his grade up.

With mixed feelings I would give the school three stars right now because of the issues that are currently going on. Five years ago I would’ve given it four or five stars, but in my opinion, it has been declining for the last few years. I have one child who has graduated and one more coming through and as things stand right now, we are not very happy with our school. There are some amazing teachers at Hawkins though that will forever be remembered by my family. I think the bigger issues fall with the lack of leadership, including follow through and honesty, which ultimately is destroying the morale for students, parents and teacher relationships. We hope things get better.

With exception of a few wonderful teachers, the school has really struggled in recent years. The final straw for my family was the way in which it handled last weeks written threat to shoot up the school by a student, and the lack of communication sent to all the parents. To send parents a vague email letting them know that A threat was made and it was traced to a specific device belonging to a specific student and that you would do everything possible to reprimand the student and then to find out that the student was suspended for one day, is inexcusable. I don’t know who’s call that was but in this day and age with all the horrible things going on at our schools across the country, you just sent the message that it’s OK to behave as such. In addition, until the teachers and faculty care enough to help do something about the current issues with bullying, the school will never succeed. In addition to all of this, the school doesn’t offer any type of interesting courses for middle school. There is a gate program that is laughable with having only one course, one hour a week if that and they don’t offer foreign languages or anything outside the box of history, science, math, and English. There is nothing that shines about this school, Except a few wonderful teachers.

I’m really frustrated with the teachers at this school. We lost so many wonderful teachers recently in the last few years and although we have some good teachers left in the primary grades, there are so many in the upper grades that do not seem to care anymore. They have stopped replying to emails, they don’t update the online system, they allow horrible behaviors and turn their backs to them, I find it very concerning that our scores are dropping so low and nobody’s questioning why? My youngest daughter will graduate this year and I’ve been at the school for 12 years combined with both of my kids, and we have been through four principals now and I can honestly say, Hawkins is struggling. Hope it gets back on track!

It is distressing to see that there is a great deal of outdated posts on this site. Hawkins deserves a much higher rating than it currently has. Many of the comments are personal attacks on the previous administration for physical attributes and other items unrelated to the quality of education provided by the school. There has been a new principal since 2014 and with that, many positive changes have occurred.

My kid is in our second year at the school and had Dr. Smith for 5th grade (last year). This was our first experience with a male teacher for our kid and it was a A++++ experience for life. Dr. Smith is the kind of teacher I wished I'd had as a youngster, he is effective at what he does but when he becomes the inspiration and the reason why my kid is more interested in learning and researching new subjects....that's just priceless. We will forever be grateful that Dr. Smith was the 5th grade teacher that made such an impact in my kids' academic life.

I feel that Tom Hawkins is over all a good school. We have only been here for a year but I was very impressed with Dr Smith for 5th grade, he is an amazing teacher that is very effective, fair and progressive teacher that uses unique teaching skills that will stick with students their entire life. My student went from a C student to not only straight A's but he looks forward to going to school everyday as Dr Smith challenges his students to be the very best they can be. Mrs Simson is an other amazing teacher that made my child want to go to school. Mr Andrews is another extraordinary teacher that is very passionate about his job. He teaches the boys to be gentlemen. There are some teachers that I will not name but they feel like they have to have control of everyone by blowing whistles at adults for example or getting upset and telling you to back ups six inches because you are on the wrong side of the gate and on school property without permission, YIKES!! As for leadership I think that they try but I also have never felt welcome on campus. We are supposed to be an open campus but I always feel like I am getting rushed out as though I am not welcome. Dismissal time appears to be complete chaos, we are lucky that no children have been killed. Shame on the parents who have kids that go to school here that have no regard for the law nor courtesy to other parents. and children People park where ever they wish whether in someones driveway, in a red zone, in front of a fire hydrant or driving down the wrong side of the street.

I have several children attending Tom Hawkins Elementary School. The school is great it's a small neighborhood school so all the parents, kids, and a bunch of the teachers live within walking distance. The school does everything they can regarding teachers who are burnt out or just plain can't teach. With all of that being said its a wonderful school one of the best in Tracy and even though they have 4 or 5 teachers I wouldn't want teaching my dog, the rest are really good. They have at least one teacher per grade that is a truly outstanding, teacher of the year caliber. I don't think I'd want my children going anywhere else!!!

I have 3 children attending Tom Hawkins School. It's well run, but could do with a little more over site. The teachers need to inspire the kids not just teach.

Hate this school. My kids have been attending this school for 6 years. The scores and curriculum seems to be going downhill each year. My experience is that teachers do not contact me about my child's performance or lack thereof. The Gradebook is fine and dandy, but the description of the assignment is very vague. So trying to figure it out with your child gets extremely frustrating. Would not recommend this school. Will be selling my house and moving out of this community because this school suck!!

We couldn't be happier with this school! Great staff and awesome students! Campus is kept clean and beautiful. The staff is caring and seem to go above and beyond to help the students.
