My first child attended this school, and we both had a very positive experience. We truly appreciated the school environment. However, when my second child study Seaside, the pandemic struck, and by the time they returned to school, both the principal and many of the teachers had changed. Unfortunately, the new principal and teachers did not seem as attentive to the students as their predecessors. The curriculum seemed to have less content, and there were noticeably fewer extracurricular activities.Additionally, it appears that the school doesn't provide as much support for students' mental and emotional well-being. The principal was not as engaged with the students; my child mentioned that even by the time of graduation, the principal still didn't recognize them by name. My child preferred the previous principal. My older child was well-prepared for middle school during their 4th and 5th grades at this school and adapted very well to the 6th grade. However, my second child had minimal homework and fewer academic challenges in those same grades, which made the transition to middle school more difficult.Having experienced the school under two different administrations, we noticed a significant difference in the atmosphere and overall quality. While I once highly recommended this school, I no longer feel comfortable doing so.

What a great school and community! My child loves the teachers, the extra curricular activities that the school offers, and the play yards. The school could use some updates as it is the oldest school in the southbay area. However, it is the largest in space elementary school in Torrance with open play yards and fields. The teachers are lead by a wonderful principal who knows every kids name. The curriculum is per the state guidelines, and the school offers extra classes and sports on campus for kidss that want/need more. Love this school!

Some teachers at this school are lazy. They rely on computer lead lessons in the classroom instead of teaching the lessons themselves. My kid's teacher told him not to bring his writing assignments home, so I have no idea how well he's writing, or if he needs help. Then when it's time for progress reports, the teacher just put checkmarks without any comments so I think that my child is doing great. At the parent-teacher conferences, the teacher has nothing but good things to say. However, at the end of the school year, I received an invitation for my child to take a summer reading/writing class for students who need help. The teacher never even reached out to me to let me know that my child needed some help (mind you, she gave him checkmarks on all his progress reports. I had to contact her myself to see if there was some mistake. The teacher is literally skating by and passing the buck, not really teaching nor engaging the parents when her students need help. So I have to supplement my kids education outside of school just to make sure they're at grade level or above as a preventative measure, because I can't trust the teacher to actually teach or give truthful academic assessments on students' progress reports. Also, the bullying at this school is astounding. The teachers and the principal just ignore it and make the students that are bullied feel re-victimized by not believing or supporting them ,and in some instances punishes the the victim for protecting themselves. This includes verbal and physical bullying and racial slurs against students of color. Then they allow the bully to continue harassing and assaulting other kids without any consequences. This school needs educators that are racially sensistive and are able to provide a safe inclusive learning environment. This school is definitely overrated.

I put up with the public school system as long a I could. 4 years was much too long for my beautifully spirited children.

This is my son's first year attending Seaside and he is thriving. He has ADHD/ADD and his 3rd-grade teacher Mrs. Park has been phenomenal. He struggled so much at his other schools but again seems to be doing so well. Seaside has high standards for their teachers and students which really encourages them to excel and try their best. Mrs. Bauer has been so helpful as well. She is a wonderful Principal and really shows a love for the kids. She is very consistent in returning my phone call and emails. I have no complaints. My son and I both LOVE Seaside and hope he can finish out the duration of his school year here.

There are only 3 teachers in each grade. Chances of getting a bad teacher are too high. 2/3 of the teachers are terrible. they just don't care about the kids. they humiliate kids in front of the class if they don't listen to them.

The principal cares, really cares, about the kids - all of them. She has a positive attitude that is passed on, and encourages each child to strive for their potential. The only bad teacher we have experienced left, thank goodness, and the rest of the staff seems on point. Kudos to Principal Bauer-Bean for a stable environment.

I heard great things about this school and part of the reason why we decided to move to south Torrance. However, the principal who runs this school is running it into the ground. She never returns any phone calls from concerned parent. We had to call constantly just to get a hold of her. When you talk to her about problems with your child she keeps talking about how much experiences she has and how great she is without really addressing the issues. Overall, the school has really gone downhill since the old principal left.

Seaside is a wonderful Elementary School and we feel so fortunate that our children are here. One of our children has type 1 diabetes, the district nurse, health aide, teachers, and front office staff all know her well and go above and beyond to ensure her medical safety at school. The PTA also works tirelessly to provide what the district budget does not. Our family loves Seaside!

Our son loves going to Seaside. The entire school was renovated in 2012. The teachers and staff do an outstanding job. Seaside also has a strong PTA. Lots of the parent involvement.

My son loves going to Seaside. The children are taught in a safe and positive environment. Parents are actively involved. Teachers focus not only on academics but on the whole child.

My children feel at home here at this school. The school has a lot of activities for everyone to be involved in. Seaside keeps you connected in everything your child does. Seaside keeps parents informed on what your child is learning and participating in at all times. This means a lot to me as a parent.
