Our experience at Shawnee Heights Middle School has been wonderful! The teachers are amazing and go above and beyond when students need extra help! They recognize that no student is alike and are open to trying different techniques to help children get the most potential out of their education!

Great! We were concerned about the transition to middle school for our son due to concerns we had the previous year with his teacher and the education he received then but the middle school staff and teachers have been amazing to work with!

My daughter is attending her first year or 7th grade here. She absolutely loves it. I have no issue in getting her to get up and go to school. She never wants to miss school days. My daughter attend a middle called Chase middle school and she hated it. She said that kids would pick on her. Start fights with. That they several locker checks a week. I'm am a proud Shawnee Heights High School graduate. My daughter is already a proud Tbird and wants to graduate from this school district.

The team approach is an innovative and effective way of creating an environment where teachers can build relationships with students and parents/guardians.

I am a parent of a student who is about to complete her 8th grade year at SHMS. My experience with the school has been a matter of extremes; some aspects of the school have been very positive, but other aspects have been very negative. Many of the teachers have been caring, compassionate, and legitimately seem to want to help my daughter learn. However, some of the teachers have been withdrawn, offer little or no guidance or information, and refuse to have any interaction with us outside of parent/teacher conferences.School administration has similarly been mixed. The current principal, Tim Urich, has been extremely difficult to interact with. He has been sullen and confrontational, and has interfered with our ability to correspond with our daughter's teachers. However the assistant principal, Brad Mickens, has at least attempted to welcome parental involvement and interaction, although he tends to not follow through with promises of communication.

I went to this middle school and absolutely loved it. It has great sports, and great academics. I am now in college, and look back and realize I learned so much here. All of the teachers are great, and made such an impact on my education. I highly encourage people to send their students here. There are many programs for students to get involved with!
