I had a bad experience with this school and willing to move to my child to another district.. kids shouldn’t be out in the hallway while class going on

Let’s begin with this: I make sure my kids do their part as respectful, cooperative students in any classroom. Education is a community effort so before I complain I make sure I am doing my part as a parent. I have taught internationally and my kids have studied outside of the US as well. Education and educators are held in high esteem outside of the USA. Here the students hold more power than the teachers. Internationally students know full well that teachers and parents work together. Here the students pit the teachers and parents against each other to get what they want. So many American parents have no clue that they are being manipulated. Now, with that in mind, every time I had a concern at Lanier High school it was addressed immediately and in a professional manner. I have communicated with different staff members in person, by telephone and by e-mail: all were courteous, generous with their time and persistent in finding a resolution each time. Students will never tell you the whole story. You will never know the whole story. The teachers, counselors and administrators at Lanier High school helped me get the full picture of how my child is doing. Together we use that shared wisdom to build a better educational experience for her.You get what you give.

Instead of emotional support, some of the teachers here are even known to humiliate parents in front of other students.Of course, there are good teachers, but the bad image is more noticeable. To be honest, I don't even want to continue attending the school.I am concerned about the high number of evaluations, but it is probably people who have never had that happen to them and teachers who are trying to improve the reputation of this school. This is all true. But it is also true that not all teachers are bad.I wouldn't like it either, and I don't want to make this kind of assessment.

The teachers I have encountered at this school do not seem to have an ounce of empathy for the students in their classes. When my student was struggling and tried to reach out to her teachers for help, not one of them gave any indication of concern or advice for her. Likewise, the counselors don't give a damn about what the students are truly feeling, and all of the neglect within the environment drives some students to depression or suicidal thoughts as I've experienced. The staff does not care for the well-being of the children they teach. Those responsible should feel guilt and should not be allowed to be teachers if they cannot empathize or help their students. The effect this school has on the students' mental health is heartbreaking and no child deserves an environment as unwelcoming and harmful as this one. Do better.

I am a parent and my daughter attended this school. This school year K was worried about covid but public school is the only option so we were forced to send her back to school. I figured the classroom would be socially distanced and everyone would have a mask on and due to my daughters vaccination she should be ok. NOPE! Students are not forced to wear masks, she sends me pictures every day of students and teachers either not wearing a mask at all or having it under their nose. When we went to the administrator he did nothing at all. At lunch not a single person is socially distanced and you are forced to sit in the lunch room. My daughter tried sitting in the hallway to get away from covid hotspot and they sent her back to the lunchroom which I find ridiculous. I would not ever choose this school if I had a choice.

As much as they preach holding the school to its high standards, the school is terrible teachers and students have no respect for each other and it’s really hard to pass if you learn different from others. They ignore basic needs of students and punish use for the dumbest things most of the time.

My child got nothing from this school. The teachers don't care about these kids all they care about is getting the job done and getting paid.

This school is the earliest in the county and it has a negative effect on my learning ability. With waking up early I can deal with, but with alternating "A day B day" schedule I cannot wrap my mind around. My grades have taken the worst possible turn. Every other day we have an hour and thirty minutes of wasting time and we cannot leave the class room and this lovely waist of time is called academy time. There are 101 things the school can do to improve upon.

Awesome school, just in the begining phases so it gets a bad rep! Still a great school!

This school has faculty and staff that strongly encourage their students to perform their best. It is a place where academics are taught to be important, and it offers great clubs and athletics for the student body. Although, this school does have its negative aspects. A large portion of the student body is uncaring for their schoolwork, and they are not being encouraged to work and succeed as much as they should be. Also, the current principal may care for his students and their success, although there have been numerous complaints from current and former teachers about the way he treats them on a daily basis. Almost 20% of the 2014-15 faculty and staff did not return for the 2015-16 school year...many choosing to teach elsewhere due to their disliking of the school. The principal does not enforce all of the school policies: this has led to the majority of the students continuing to not abide by the dress-code and/or use profane language every day. Numerous parents are oblivious to what their children are being exposed to every day at this school, since their children are beginning to think it is acceptable behavior to be using fowl language, and do not want their parents knowing what they are up to when they are not around. This school is definitely a place where opportunity awaits, although it is also a place where much improvement is needed. The fact of the matter is that it is up to the parent to determine what they want their child to be exposed to every week.

Lanier high school is a great school and everyone who transferred here from other schools always says that it's better here! Whether you're in Standard, Honors or AP class all the teachers care about your grades and success. This school also has a great sports department and they push athletes to do better in their studies as well as the sports they are playing. All the students here are very friendly. Lanier is not a ghetto school and we definitely doesn't encourage bullying here. To the people who are saying that Lanier has a low graduation rate, well that's only because this school's newer than the other and have less students than the other schools that have been around for atleast 10 years and up.

This school is great! The teachers really care about your grades and their willing to help you with your problems... The students are very diversed in terms of ethnicity, so nothing about this school is really 'getto'. I was a freshman last year and I must say the upper class men were so sweet and didn't bother me at all. As for education this school offers great AP classes! We recently took a path of academy where you get to chose your academy based on what you want to be... This school prepares you for college and the future very well! The only downside is that the rules can be strict sometimes...

Although some teachers are more challenging than others, this school is top-notch in my book. I have five children and all of them attend the Lanier Cluster of schools. When we moved into the area the Middle school had just opened and my children were some of the first children to attend. My oldest daughter graduated for the High School and has made history by being the first graduating class of 2011. The teachers in the Lanier cluster want your children to do well and provide all the necessary tools needed for them to succeed including tutoring. I could not see my children attending any other school cluster.

Lanier High is absolutely a top notch school. The staff, teachers, coaches, and especially Principal Mrs. Wing have created and built a cohesive, creative, challenging, and helpful environment for the students and parents. Mrs. Wing is at almost every event the school participates in. She truly cares for the students and her staff through the support she shows when she is present at school events. The community involvement is supportive and welcoming. Truly a great school for students and families who want to get a solid education and have a positive high school experience.
