This is an amazing community, I would highly recommend to anyone considering bilingualism for their child's education. My son started 5th grade in 2023 and we have been extremely happy. The application process involves the prospective student spending a day in the school which helped with not only academically assess but also started the relationship building with future classmates. The parents and students are welcoming, the staff is caring and the communication between teacher and parent is great.

Hudson Way has been a godsend for us. In selecting a school, our family needed one that can accommodate our 4th grader's learning needs and push our younger kids to their potential. Hudson Way is one of the few that can do both. We moved our kids from another English Chinese Immersion school that is much closer to our home to Hudson Way. So far, our longer daily commute has been worth it. We love this school! The teachers are truly excellent. They give lots of attention to each student regardless if it's to push one ahead or to catch one up. The curriculum is structured, organized, and proven. The teachers assess their students weekly because they want to know that they are learning. The parent body is well organized, welcoming and intentionally inclusive. For such a diverse group of parents, we love how like minded the group is in pushing for advanced math and communication skills in two languages, strong work ethic, kindness to schoolmates, and financially worth it. We are amazed by what a strong partnership the parents and school have created and how involved the parents are to create a truly unique learning environment for the kids. Not shocking, the students are a hard working, talented, motivated, and sweet bunch.

We have been a part of the HudsonWay Immersion School Community for over 8 years. We love the small class sizes and the low student-to-teacher ratio allows for the children to get individualized attention. The teachers are dedicated to keeping the children challenged and engaged. The immersion model allows the children to become biliterate in a short amount of time. We are beyond thrilled with the amazing education that our children have received, they have truly amazed us with the ability to navigate seamlessly in two languages. During the pandemic, the school was able to pivot quickly from an in-person environment to a virtual one without skipping a beat. The teachers and the administration put a tremendous amount of thought and effort into giving the children the ability to have full-day virtual instruction.

I was expecting a lot more from this school. Overall I was disappointed.

Excellent. We are five years at the school - we’ve been through a change if location and administration and the school continues to deliver without missing a beat. My girls are happy being there - sometimes I can’t get them to leave - and my husband is always impressed with their progress. We’re so glad they’ve expanded into middle school!

Overall, it is a great school! The teachers all are very well educated and have passion with children. My daughter goes to HudsonWay Immersion School and she likes it, she used to be a shy little girl and now she is very confident girl and feel comfortable when speaking to public. we are planning to send our second child to here too. Definitely highly recommend!

HudsonWay Immersion School is a great school! My daughter started at age 2.5 yrs old in their preschool program and with one year in the program, she now speaks fluent mandarin (she didn't speak it before attending the school)! All the teachers are loving and caring, know every child well and give parents great feedback on child's progress. I also love the school community where it's diverse, inclusive and supporting one another. My husband and I are very pleased with the level of quality education and care that my daughter is receiving from the school.

Had multiple issues pop up during my daughter’s few short months and they were rarely addressed without my constant pushing. Bullying, behavioral issues, communication issues (in part due to language barrier), and more. They completely ignored a bullying complaint, with evidence and attempts at multiple follow ups but I was told my young child simply bothered older children (why unsupervised interaction between all students is allowed, I’m unsure) and that’s why they wrote notes saying no one likes her and she should leave. Classroom teachers attempted to diagnose my child repeatedly (and incorrectly) and I believe a lack of qualifications and experience (and hiring based solely on language ability) resulted in an inability to handle typical behaviors of children. We finished off the last two months at another school and ‘magically’ these issues were not a problem. Older children were much kinder to younger students and teachers were much more knowledgable on how to handle different behaviors and emotions. Our school and home life improved greatly once we switched. My daughter did pick up a fair amount of the target language but after talking to other parents who didn’t speak the language at home I found out this was not the norm. All this school has to offer is language immersion but the otherwise unsuitable environment for young children was not worth the benefit of the slow (and in some cases unlikely) language learning.

Daughter joined Kindergarten this year at their new location in Sterling. School building is a great size and has lots of playgrounds. Most positive aspect is their immersion and well educated teachers. Daughter has positive stories from school everyday about their learnings.

I would give it 1 star. Had a terrible experience, felt teachers were not compassionate. Spanish teacher did not have good english language skills and unable to communicate effectively with parents regarding day to day activities of the child in class. Teacher unable to cope with any child who is not a quiet or shy individual.

The administration hasn't been forthcoming on the school's plans for the future. They have been planning to move New Jersey locations, but refused to tell the parents what town the new building will be in. They required contracts and payment for the 2017-18 school year to be in without telling parents where the location will be. As of June, they still haven’t told us where the school will be. As a working mother this can make a huge difference in my commute. The administration even told us that they may increase the tuition retroactively next year to cover costs for the new location.

Amazing school! Coming from the West Coast where immersion is widely accepted, I had my doubt about HudsonWay- Is it as good as those expensive schools in SF? I was blown away by how wonderfully my kids are doing. To start with, it is their favorite school so far. My older one is in K, but she had been to four programs before HundsonWay and finds HudsonWay as her favorite. My younger one dances into the classroom every day. Academically, they are also doing wonderfully, not only with Mandarin but also with English, Math, Music and Science. My kindergartner can even write certain full sentences in Mandarin without any reference. Highly recommended!

My daughter began her studies at Hudson Way Immersion School when she was 3.5 years old and my son arrived at the school a year later. Both myself and the children were slightly apprehensive when we began the program. Our family does not have any Mandarin fluency, however the teachers were so kind and welcoming that the transition was completely rewarding. My daughter (now age 6.5) and my son (age 5) love the program and have been able to speak fluently with each other for some time now.

We have had our son at Bilingual buds (now Hudson Way Immersion school for 2 years). We love it. He is 4 1/2 years old and fluent in Spanish. He is also doing kindergarten level work in pre-k. We are starting our second child there this fall. Definitely recommend the school. The teachers are great and our son loves it.

Bilingual Buds is such a great school. The classes are small (6 kids) and they learn so much, and the teachers are very nurturing. My daughter went there for 2 years and her self-confidence really improved. She is now fluent in spanish too.
