DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL OR COUNTY. This is the worst school a parent can send their kids to. There's always a fight. The students seem to rule the school. There's no real agenda. Kids get bullied not only by other students but by staff as well. The staff is overly unprofessional. They are there just for a check. They give out grades to keep their reputation. Students are siting in classrooms that are not assigned to them and no one catches that. There's too much hush hush on incidents in this school. Favoritism is A+ here, their students get away with fights and more with no consequences. The bus situation in this county is the worst. You have teachers screaming at the kids and walking out of the classroom while in session. This county needs to invest in real people who can make changes and make these kids learning environment safer.

This is the 2nd worst schools that I have experienced in my lifetime. My son was a straight A student and has voiced that he is learning very little at this school. He has seen students fighting, smelled cigarette smoking in the bathrooms, and has informed us that most children use their Chromebook laptops for watching YouTube content creators and playing videos. This principal has been unresponsive and this school seems extremely unorganized. Being underfunded should not be an excuse for being this poorly ran. This will be a one and done situation for our family but hopefully this school improves.

As a student I see what happens on the daily and I don't think that teachers teach kids fairly and also sometimes do the grades incorrectly. Also I don't feel a lot of the time with of the threats we get

Overhills Middle School has awesome administration that takes care of business. It is not easy running a middle school - there are different personalities from students to teachers and staff. They are awesome in managing and maintaining the safety and care of their students. I give OMS 5 stars!

Horrible school! Teachers have favorites. Students are loud, destructive, and violent. Teachers and athletic officials will not give a fair chance instead base everything on color. My childs grades and social skills have dramatically went down since coming to this school.

I was so very disappointed in the education system. I also failed to use learning experiences to my advantage effectively.

I really don't care for all the unprofessional staff or lack of security

Terrible school with terrible teachers. Some of which barely speak English, making it hard for kids to understand them. The kids are warehoused and 1 on 1 teaching is non-existent.The bullying issue is out of control. The principals are lost, running around in circles, accomplishing nothing.Forget about communication. There is none. The school needs a total overhual of staff/faculty.I would be embarrased to be working there. They need to close doors and hire new faculty, starting at the top-down.

I would NOT recommend this school for any special needs child to go to this school!!! They do not have the heart or compassion to deal with the needs that a special needs child needs. I had to be reffered to Intensive In home care department. They will come into your home to assess problems in all areas, like parenting skills, school, church, wherever that child is at. They concluded that this is the worst school they have ever delt with. OMS was not willing to receive this service, even though it would've helped my child and the teachers

The school isn't terrible but it's not good either, not even average. There are rumors going around everywhere and the 2015-2106 year to prevent fights they made us walk in lines everywhere but that didn't help much because there were still fights. Cafeteria and hallway fights. The teachers are okay but some need to slow down and make sure the students actually know and understand what they are being taught

Got bullied to the point where I now have Social Anxiety Disorder and depression. The counselors and administration were no help at all.

my son attended this school for his 6th grade year and it was the worst middle school. It took them about a month to get his IEP to his teachers and I had to get the district involved to even get them to have an IEP meeting with me. I would never recommend anyone to send their kids there. If you live in the Spring Lake area and can get away from OMS, do it!

I have 3 children at this school. I do not know why the administration changes things so close to the end of the year but should have happened long ago. The new bus schedule is a nightmare and the overcrowding on buses is insane. Kids have to stand in the isles. Sixth graders are out in trailers where the bathrooms are mostly shut down and super hot or cold depending on the weather. No safety. All of my kids teachers have poor communication even letting one of my kids almost fail the first semester without a phone call, email, or even smoke signals. I even personally tried to volunteer at the school with no luck. My clearances went through in the first month of school and asked until xmas break to find out that they were done. Another dozen times asking about volunteering now with no luck at all any times this year to volunteer. Wanted to help with proctoring and no communication. Had questions that were unanswered by the principal or anyone else. The school does not want help and ignore you. The counselors will help when made to.

This school is not a good school at all. Many fights break out all the time, and student conduct is miserable. I have had a substitute teacher for half of this year and she is not a proper social studies teacher. There are reports that the principal and vice principal have been recently fired too. Many teachers can not control their students and therefore most of the day is spent being yelled at. There are a few decent teachers, but over all it has been a terrible year here at Overhills Middle.

Overhills Middle School just recently did some improvement late in the school year with their Administration Staff; better late than never. But please be aware that this school is so overcrowded, that students have to lug all their belongings around because there are no enough lockers to go around. This has caused my child to be a victim of theft countless times in which pencils, paper, and baseball caps were stolen from his bookbag; even half eaten food/snacks and drinks were sadly taken. Overcrowding also causes 6 graders to be taught inside of inadequate trailers that are drafty and moldy. Overcrowding also forces several classes to take a lunch break as early as 10:00 am. This also affects transportation, where buses are arriving and dropping off students late. I was told the fix to this unfortunate situation is the construction of a new school. In my opinion it is not being built fast enough. Since my child started 7th grade he has had teachers switched around, some even leaving; I believe this is the 4th Homeroom teacher....I lost track. In conclusion, with school near its end & the change with administration will hopefully improve teacher, parent, and student morale.

We haven't even started school yet and my son is not even in the system. According to them, they haven't entered everyone in the system and will have them entered by the end of the week. That is not good enough for me. I'm already trying to find a different school. They were not helpful at all.

Horrible school! My son has been bullied in front of TEACHERS who just stood by and did NOTHING! Both of our children who have attended OMS say they wish they could go somewhere else as they did not feel safe there. The school teachers and staff tell you what you want to hear and then do nothing to fix the problem. Teachers expect you to do their job for them. My children have not had one positive experience from attending this school. I would not recommend this to anyone!

Its good to have these reviews here for both parents, teachers, & the community. This really worries because we moved here from out of state and both of my children will be in the MS & HS and this worries me and I pray and hope this will not be a bad experience for my kids. To parents & teachers, there is so many negativity in this world. I hope we can try not to concentrate on the negative but if there is some, that we can come together and have a solution. Schools nowadays are not easy, any way you see you. As a teacher or student but the we all need to work together to make things better especially for the sake of our kids but truth is, some kids are not as eager or respectful as they used to be back when most of us used to go to school. There are still those who make it a #1 priority to make their education the main focus which is great but again even doing so its not easy because there are those who use this as a way to start bullying and so forth. Lets put our best efforts and look at the positive and think positive for the sake of education. I cant help but worry though ; ( I rated this a 3 but I have yet to have any experience with this school I have to be somewhat neutral.
