Moving from Ft. Bragg to the areas schools has been a great experience! We love the ability to be involved in the school. We love the holiday activities. We love the 3rd grade academics and had a fantastic bus driver!

Great elementary school compared to most primary and elementary schools in the Ft. Bragg / Ft. Liberty area.

For 3rd grade my son had a teacher that refused to acknowledge his raised hand for so long, he wet himself. She left the school before the end of the year and was replaced by a brand new teacher who was lovely, if inexperienced. My son’s 4th grade teacher is wonderful and the only reason he is still attending this school. My son gets bullied relentlessly on the bus. The school promises to address it, but does nothing. The PE teacher punishes the entire class by walking the students down a hallway and stopping to have all of the teachers in the 5th grade hallway come out of their rooms and laugh at them. My son was accepted into the AIG program, and 5 months later the school still has not had the meeting they were going to arrange to explain what that means for my child. Most importantly, my son broke his arm at school. My son was not even sent to the nurse! I did not receive a phone call. NOTHING!!! I get lots of assurances from staff that these things will be addressed. I have never seen actual action. It just seems to get worse. My son wants to be homeschooled next year and he has always adored school. I am very dissatisfied with this school.

The above report is incorrect and is unfair to the teacher. The student in question did not participate in class, the teacher could not read his work nor could she follow his “methods”. This student would not talk when asked very specific questions about his work and calls to the parents for the most part went unanswered. The student made false accusations as well. If parents are going to make these type of comments about teachers then the teachers should be able to defend themselves. BTW once this student was moved to the new classroom, he exhibited the same behaviors with his new teacher as he did with his two previous teachers that he has had this past year. (Yes, this student was moved into my room from another teachers room as well for the same issues!)

Up until this year it was great. All of my kids have been through this school in the past 8 years and they had some amazing teachers. Now it seems they all got wise and left to better schools.

So much to say about this school. It simply needs to be addressed about the violence and disruptions, bullying, and destructive behaviors. Some teachers and the principal were not effective at guaranteeing my childs safety. Nothing got done when i reported my child being bullied. I spoke to other parents who agree that something needs to be done immediately. Its truly chasing away good people.

The low ratings of this school are very accurate!!! The teachers FAIL to communicate with parents if your child is not doing well or has numerous missing assignments. You find out how your child is doing when you see they’re failing on their progress report or report card. You practically have to nag them to find anything out about your child. My child’s future is in their hands, and the teacher just passes them along regardless if they need help or not. The teachers I’ve dealt with this far, have been awful. Lazy, and don’t seem to care or actually want the children to learn.Additionally, the school is in poor condition. It looks like a jail inside, but worse. The ceiling tiles have water stains and holes in them. The school is dirty. I hate sending my children to this school. Horrible, horrible, horrible school!!

The third grade building looks like a dungeon! The walls in the halls are filthy, wholes in doors, and no fencing from the woods in the back of the school! Also black mold all over the sidewalks outside!

It's just the beginning of the school year. It's my child's first year at this school, and within the first few weeks there have been some trouble in the classroom with a troubled student. A student causing a hostile environment for the others multiple times. If issue gets better or worse, review will be updated. As of now, I'm not happy with the way things are being handled just yet.

South Harnett Elem. needs to update their school website . How can parents get any information with whats happening at the school? Sometimes little ones aren't the greatest source of info and sometimes not so reliable in bringing home newsletters. My son has no problem remembering to bring home homework assignments but newsletters? forget it half the time lol. I think its great that on a teachers classroom website there is an option to see what the curriculum is and updates but its out of date or there is no information.

This school has come a long way. We have three children that have went to this school and the last two years have been wonderful. I can see that the curriculm and focus on getting the children on grade level and raising the standard has been a major focus. The teachers are good and seem to care about the childrens education. The office staff is very nice and friendly.
