The Magnet program is a great program here. The teachers are amazing, there are a few bad apples, but the rest go above and beyond. The principal will work with you if you show him that you won't back down and that you are serious about your child. Overall the school is good, I would recommend, but as a parent we also have to do our part to keep children safe and in a protective environment be involved as well in their academic achievement.

My kids have been going to school here since Pre-K and they are now in the 1st and 2nd grade, and in the Magnet program. This is the Best elementary school in the area!! Before the pandemic, we had a highly active Parent Center with lots of parent volunteers in the school assisting teachers, helping with fundraisers, showing appreciation to the teachers and staff. There is a high number of teachers who are credentialed as Nationally Board Certified, which is an option teachers chose to do. Before the pandemic, there were lots of plays and performances, open houses, and lots of holiday related activities such as Halloween and Christmas. Then when the pandemic hit, the school did there best to make sure all students had laptops and tablets, hotspot and internet connections. The teachers and staff did an amazing job as best they could in managing the hiccups and pivoting during the pandemic. The principal does his best in listening to the needs of the teachers, and is actively engaged on the board with teachers and parents figuring out the needs of students and families. Teachers engage with ClassDojo app in communicating with parents about what's happening in the classroom and the school. The magnet program has fantastic learning opportunities such as participating in the STEM fest this spring where the students taught coding to other schools. The kids are learning so much and it feels great to be back in person, socializing and do fun activities again. What helps to make this school great is the active collaboration between parents and teachers in their child's education! The pandemic of course was a blow to all of our schools and we hope in the upcoming fall we can find a new form of normalcy that returns parents back to the school grounds with more direct collaboration between the school and family :)

Love it, want to be anywhere else.

The principal at this school is known to not be understanding with students who have learning disabilities. She has told parents that maybe their child should go to another school instead of trying to help. Her trying to speak Spanish without the correct pronunciation and fluency in the language instead of getting her bilingual staff to speak is not only annoying but a major disservice to parents who need the translation.

I attended Bryson Elementary school, and my 5th grade teacher had a positive impact on me. My son attended Bryson, my youngest is currently a Bryson student and has the same 5th grade teacher I had. We appreciate all her efforts in preparing us academically for the real world. I can pick up the phone and speak with the Principal with confidence she will address our concerns. Bryson Elementary has touched our lives and it started with the teachers.

This school is great! My child just started the Magnet program and I've been very pleased with my child's previous teachers. I don't know any parent with negative comments towards Bryson.

This is a good school, the front office personnel is something on the unfriendly side but remember they deal with a lot of people, teachers are great, my daughter went there and now my son is attending the magnet program, I read some bad reviews but if u are not involved in your kids education, don't expect the staff to do it for you, remember good education starts @ home ...

Bryson has gone through a leadership change in the last few years. It has improved the school very much. Mrs. Diedrich works very hard to keep the school functioning beyond well. The teachers have a love for the school that is visible, that's why they don't leave. I was a student there and have also seen it at its current state. Bryson is great school. It's not perfect, but it's pretty close.

Some of the negative comments appear to be sour grapes from for profit neighboring schools. The administration changes every few years, but what is constant is a team of highly experienced and dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and eager students. For the last two years we have been the top scoring school in South Gate and the region. It comes from teachers who teach standards in a meaningful and fun way, students who listen and follow directions, and parents who understands that they are one third of the equation.
