My highly functional autistic son now 23 went here. Both my grandsons age 5&6, the oldest of which is highly functional autistic, have gone there. ALOT of the staff is extremely “ Clicky“ You know never once was I treated not felt welcomed from the office staff. Never once did they say hello how are you nor a thank you have a great day. My grandson was to spend half his day in regular and the other half in special needs class. After a while did not follow thru with that and just kept him in the special needs class with the other emotionally challenged kids. My grandson is extremely smart. They did not challenge him nor did he do any real work in there, his day was spent playing with blocks. They have this thing called “paw tickets” when u do good you get a ticket. My youngest saved his all year. Last day of school we go to turn them in to the office. They said we don't turn them in to them. Evidently there was some store that was open the day before that we had to turn them on to them. Never once did we hear about a a store. So you can imagine the disappointment my 5 year old felt when they said this to us. The top prize is a movie ticket for 100 which is what he had. But instead of saying there's the number of the lady that runs this program give her a call and maybe you can work something out, they just sat there starting at us as he is about to start crying. I have spoken to teachers that have worked there and still do and they are all in the agreement that the school doesn't look at all aspects qwhen it comes to what would benefit the child the most. That they can't seem to keep people/teachers there. They finish out their year term and then they're gone. That says a lot to the way things are ran around there. I feel that the reason they kept my grandson in that classroom as much as they did is the amount of extra money they get because he is special needs. I hope to never have to deal with all the things my family had to endure by this school and the office personnel ever again. There is so much more that I have left out about the stress they put my family thru during a crisis so much so that I had to go to the Superintendent of Schools and speak to him about it all. Which in return he 100% sided with me and he personally saw to it that it got handled in the manner it should of the whole time. I was very grateful for all he did, they on the other hand were not and as a result made things extremely difficult. Good luck. Stay on top of things.

My child was being bullied at Sonora elementary school and at first they were helpful and put my child on independent study for 2 weeks. When she was going to go to school in a few days they started saying that it wasn't bullying and didn't do what we decided would be best when my child return. Now the school won't work with me. When my child got in virtual learning because my child's docter said it was need for my child's health, they didn't give a schedule and when I asked for one they said to contact the teachers when they know the schedule. And because I am fighting for my child they are treating my child wrong. I will be having my child go to a different school as soon as possible.

This year (2016-2017) is my son's third year at Sonora Elementary school. I have yet to have a bad experience. Everyone is very helpful and kind. I am looking forward to many more great years at Sonora Elementary.

Although my child is new to this school she loves it and thinks everything about it is great so far. However, I find the staff somewhat difficult to deal with and the principle not very helpful when I recently had a difficult situation.
