Had high hopes, but ultimately was very let down.

From my experience as a student, the school provides OK teaching in most subjects, has good safety, however it does not have proper punishment, enforcement of rules, etc. Many students aren't excited to learn about anything. Many students talk and mess around during class, most teachers do nothing about it and cause a distraction. From personal experience, the dress code is harsh on younger students 1-5th grade, and is almost non-existent for older students 6-8th grade. This can create problems for younger students as older students are allowed to wear inappropriate clothing, an can even come to school wearing practically nothing, or mature images, and the little kids can see that. Overall, my experience at this school was very poor and uncomfortable.

am sitting here reading reviews, as i am looking to relocate. There are a couple of one star reviews written by "students". Just in case there are other parents out there doing the same and didn't pick up on the ques I just couldn't help to make a comment on the "students" impeccable writing skills at such a young age. they surely must have learned it at Columbia right? if that is so then good job Columbia for teaching little young ones to write so well, I'm sure the rest of the curriculum is just as well put together. maybe the rest of California should take notes! Hahaha. nice try mom or dad.

My daughter’s kindergarten teacher Mrs. Mendoza was very personal with all the kids in the class and did very well at teaching even with distance learning for the 2020-2021 year with Covid. She answered plenty of questions we had, always responded to our questions in a timely manner, understood if my child wasn’t feeling well or couldn’t make it to class when it was in session. She taught my child how to read and write!!! All the kids love her!! The secretaries Lori and Amber are always helpful and friendly and also understanding when my child has had appointments or was sick. Mrs. Mohr and other staff was frequently in the parking lot in the mornings for school drop off and were friendly and welcoming to the children. They would make sure they found their way to class. The school communicates well through phone or email about events and announcements well. The lunch lady has always made my daughter feel at home. We have had a wonderful experience from Mrs. Carr in TK, to Ms.Harris (Mrs. Mendoza) in kindergarten, to the lunch lady, library lady, music teacher, yard duties, parent helpers, teacher assistants, teachers, and the principal. Columbia Is a smaller district but has a nice community of parents and educators.

I would rate my experience at this school as one star. I consistently feel disrespected, anxious, stressed, and in danger at this school. The management are constantly making more rules to make this school more strict, and when we ask why these rules are implemented, we get told that the reason is "classified". So far my experience at this school has been extremely terrible

I would rate my experience in this school as a one. Every movement, every thought there has a foreboding air of formality. I did not know it wasn't normal to feel nervous and uncomfortable every day in class. In seventh grade I transferred to a new school (which I will not disclose as to retain anonymity) to remove myself from the toxic environment that is Columbia Elementary and I discovered what it felt like to feel comfortable in a classroom for the first time. In a month I will be graduating from this school and after a year of experience here I will say that for the first time in my life I am very happy. I would not recommend Columbia Elementary to any parent of student.

Columbia is the best school in our county! I've had one child graduate and have a 6th grader as well as a 3rd grader. The teachers are amazing and the support staff are awesome.
