Smithtown Christian School has exceed my expectations as a parent. That is not an easy task! They are genuine and authentic. They stand firm in the Lord and that is beautifully weaved throughout the school. I love that they communicate in a transparent way, keeping families in the loop of happenings at school and in the community. They make time for questions and concerns! They not only support the student, but the family unit of their students. It's a wonderful feeling knowing that my child is happy and truly cared about. This is my child's second year attending, with favorites being STEM, Art, and lunch (the freshly made food is a wonderful option). Take a tour! Then once your family is a part of the SCS family, join the PTO for an look at the inner workings, or volunteer to be a class parent and see the wonderful things that God is doing!

This is my son's first year at SCS and he's doing great! He likes the classes and the dynamics compared to public schools. Very happy that he's here.

Made me have therapy, this school was brutal

I was a student there in elementary school and continued right up until I graduated high school. I don’t really remember life before this - I hesitate to even call it this - school. I saw so many issues in the 11 or so years I was there, and the older I get, the more I realized just how messed-up this place was.First off, the turnover rate was obscenely high, specifically at the secondary level. Teachers would simply disappear without a trace. Some I learned later on quit by their own choice. Others? Well, I’ll put it to you this way. At some point during high school, a few teachers were quite vocal about fixing the issues in the school. They were somehow all missing for about a week and came back without a word. When it comes to students, the cliques were extreme. As an autistic child I had trouble fitting in with the group and was mocked quite a handful of times, to my face and behind my back. Naturally, absolutely nothing was done as far as disciplinary action. My sister was also bullied to the point of developing an eating disorder, again, nothing was done. Even as an adult now in the workforce (which this school did not prepare me for) I have never seen such blatant favoritism from the faculty. I saw kids get away with all sorts of obscene things without even a slap on the wrist. As far as raising “Christian leaders”, put it to you this way. I’m in contact still with a few of my former classmates. All of which are either atheists, or have a distrust in the church as an institution. The school took an immense toll on the mental health of both students and teachers that I saw real time. Then again, they don’t really believe in mental health there. I saw many classmates struggle with that only to be told to pray. Thank God I’m in therapy now, in part because of this place.

Amazing school with caring staff, academic excellence and a balance between scholastic achievement and life training. Amazing mix of students from all different backgrounds. Good selection of extra curricular activities. Excellent spiritual and moral training and foundation.

Amazing Christian education. They accommodate for education needs. I have a middle schooler and High School student. The teachers are caring and the administration is helpful and open. The school has gone above and beyond during the pandemic. So grateful for this school.

The early years were mostly good experiences, however, middle school and on was a negative experience. The administration over steps their bounds in detrimental ways. They lack the necessary experience needed to effectively deal with students from the elementary age to the high school age, as well as their families. The administration often undermines and interferes in the student's family dynamic, causing much discord and discouragement among their students and families. Clear favoritism is the only way to be successful academically, socially and spiritually. As long as parents and students "behave and think" exactly like the administration, you will do just fine. Lastly, the facility is filthy and outdated. The restrooms are often, several times a week, not working, and unsanitary. The roof often leaks into classrooms and hallways.

My experience is extremely positive. I cannot speak to the many years prior, but in 2019 it has grown to be so positive and so unique from any other experience. As a whole, the teachers truly care about their students, and put extra thought and concern into their overall well being. Also, what is also unique is the teacher-to-teacher relationship, strongly desiring to work together as a solid unit. This alone speaks volumes. I have seen teachers give their time, money, emotions, for these students. We rejoice when they rejoice, and have even cried with them when they cried. We endeavor to live life with the kids, while showing them the love of Christ as authentically as we can. Some kids reject this love; but that's ok with us. That doesn't stop us from wanting to love on them. I desire my classroom to be a place of stability, academic excellence, and spiritual growth - each and every day.

I came here in 9th grade and ever since I walked through the doors the kids, as well as teachers were all very welcoming.

Wonderful school! Teachers and administration are very warm and approachable. They want parents involved, which is great and very hard to find! The education is Christ-centered offering children opportunities to give to people in need not only in their own community, but around the world.

    4. Excellence I'll be honest. There's a lot expected from these kids. Academics are strong and the curriculum is tough. And then there's the memorization. A LOT of memorization. There's some tough love going on as study skills are shaped and facts are drilled. But from early on the kids learn that when they strive for excellence the reward is great. There is excellence in character too. A chapel lesson hit home with my son recently - he told me he wants to "always do more than what is expected." A lot is expected in character, thank God! It goes further than words and deeds though. Our kids are learning to respect and honor others by building their own strong character. Visitors to the school are impressed by the students. This is not a place where the students shuffle through hallways without making eye contact and mumbling replies. No, these kids wear the SCS logo and are ambassadors for their school, ambassadors for Christ. Their conversations are engaging, intelligent and respectful. It's expected of them. Not a formal expectation written in a handbook, but a pursuit of excellence modeled by others and fostered by all.

If you're looking for a school that is all about smiles and good image, then this is for you. Education is average, but if you usual struggle in academics they will probably send you back or talk to you about it and see what they can do, or make you do. Christian values seemed to be esteemed here but not usually practiced if you are a outsider. Firsthand I was accepted into the social groups or "cliques". Most are accepting but some others are not open to many people. The teachers do seem to show more favoritism to some more than others, but seem qualified at best. Basically your more than average Christian school, not for everyone but the building is pretty nice and seems to be improving. I have attended this school for 7 years and can honestly say it has been mostly ups & downs, not the best but it makes you stronger in character. If you want a school that will test you to your limits and see what you can do, but still keep in fact they honor God in the classrooms, then this is the school for you.

Smithtown Christian School is a wonderful, Christ-centered environment. I am blessed to have the opportunity to work there. We have the joy of seeing God work in our lives and the lives of our students on a daily basis and openly proclaim His power and might. This is an excellent school that helps students to grow spiritually as well as academically.

I enrolled my two in SCS two years ago and it has been the best decision I ever made except not doing it earlier. They are receiving a good education. When needed help is there. They have a great special ed dept. for those with children who Need a little more help. They work with us as parents to give what each individual child needs. I plan to enroll my third child when that time comes too.

My two children have been in the school for two years. They are very, very happy. They are making great friends. The education is good and getting better. My children will graduate from SCS as well educated, well rounded, analytical thinkers. The administration is accessible and parents have a voice in all aspects of their children's education. In today's world having a voice in your child's education is paramount.

I have had the great blessing of having all 5 of my children attend Smithtown Christian School. The decision to enroll our kids at SCS has been a great one. The teachers are loving and kind and always willing to go the extra mile. The administration addresses issues, both academic and social, in a professional yet caring way. I am so glad my children get to learn in an environment where Godly value's are not just taught but lived out!

I have 3 kids in SCS and we love it, most importantly my kids love it. They have been bless with a great education from some great teachers. My kids are getting a wonderful education, meeting great friends and most importantly; they are in an environment that is not filled with the troubles that most schools encounter like drugs, gangs, violence, etc... When my kids have struggled at times during certain classes the teachers have gone the extra mile to spend time with them, during lunch or after school, to make sure they understand the school work and get a better understanding of the material. I also appreciate the strong Christian values my kids are taught. Not only are they given a top notch education, they are also guided with a strong moral compass that will help them grow and give them direction as they go through their young lives into adulthood. From the school superintendent to the teachers to the administrative staff, everyone contributes to make Smithtown Christian School a unbelievable experience for both the students and parents. I would 100% recommend SCS to anyone.
