Very good school. This school is WAY better than old school that I used to go which was in PA. My old school in PA was horrible and had extremely bad teachers.

This is the best school that I ever went. They are so supportive and all of the teachers that I have are really respectful. This is a big plus because I used to go to a horrible school and then moved here. Also this school will help you pass big tests and you more likely to get in to a very good college or university. In conclusion I suggest anyone to come to this school. Do not go to the school in PA because I went there before and most of the teachers that I had very disrespectful and not supportive at all.

I'm currently attending Smithsburg as a sophomore and I can say it is a great school. The teachers are very helpful and mostly everyone is nice. Smithsburg is a primarily white school which is difficult when you're Hispanic in honors classes and you're the only person of color in the room. In the first month or two you will probably know 90% of the students even if you don't join a sport. Sports are very important to SHS (mainly football) and the student section is absolutely insane(in a good school spirit way). Even for someone who doesn't partake in sports, I really enjoy the pep-rallies and going to events. They also offer more extracurricular activities (Drama Club, Art Club, FFA, etc). There's something for everyone.

I attended Smithsburg as a student from 2007-2011 and I i hate it, i only get bully and school do not stop it. They treat me like child. I had a disable with reading and writing and they do not help me out.

I attended Smithsburg as a student in my freshman and sophomore year. All in all, it wasn't bad. There's no doubt smithsburg is a big agricultural, predominately white school, and as an african american I have felt overwhelmed at times (zero diversity here, I know my graduating class had about..4 or 5 black men, I can't even recall any other races). I had no trouble fitting in socially though, and at the end of the day school is what you make of it. The teachers were very nice, and I feel like Smithsburg definitely prepared me for college, even in the beginning 2 years i attended. To anyone who didn't attend the middle schools: I attended Smithsburg after moving from the midwest. It took a little adjusting, but I did find a nice group of friends from joining sports. To anyone new to Washington County schools (especially Smithsburg), EVERYONE has grown up with each other. Worth noting. Small side note: I know there has been a new principal/VP since I've left smithsburg, but I have NEVER seen the principal before. I didn't even know what he looked like. Don't know if that's good or bad, but definitely worth noting. The Vice Principal was always there, and he was very approachable.
