I will have to say that the rating from this page is wrong. It ONLY includes 3rd to 8th grade scores. It does not even mention our high school EOC scores. We are 90% or higher on our proficiency levels for EOC grades. We were a C on our SPS score last year. I think 3 out of 10 is too low. I have been here for 6 years and I believe we have a strong administration and great teachers.

Singer offers a wonderful oppertunity to many childern, Singer & Hyatt has had graduates who have progressed in life by starting their own companies. Graduating from colleges as doctors, lawyers, great athletes, along with preachers & pastors wives. Most of all, producing wonderful parents with great morals, which is rare in this day & time. The Singer & Feilds community has a understanding that small towns are like a big family & will do what they can to bring out the best in each other & help each other when times get hard. They understand that "No one" is better then anyone else & we are only as strong as our weakest link. Singer has a great oppertunity to become The # 1 school in the state and nation by students working together to raise its grade point average. When this occurs, they'll become a school that everyone will want their child to attend. This can produce a population growth which produces buisness growth, better paying jobs( locally) along with a better way of life for everyone in the town. So next time you see a student that goes to Singer, ask them how their grades are, and extend a encouraging word along with a prayer that will bring out the best in them.

I am a graduate of Singer and the parent of two graduates of Singer High School. I love my community and the school, however, there are a few issues I have with our School Board. Hyatt was closed a couple years ago, precisely why, I'm not sure. I forsee Singer being closed in the near future, before my 7 year old graduates. I did attend school in Natchitoches Parish in the 80's and am a victim of integration. What I mean by that, is, my very small school, Provencal, was changed to an elementary school while the rest of us were bussed to town. That was an hour of riding the bus one way. We, Provencal, kids were thrown to the bottom of the totem pole. Same is happening here, just in a different way. Singer, and Merryville, I believe seem to be on the receiving end of leftovers from DeRidder. Don't our tax dollars amount to the same as others? Don't we get funding like others? Why did it take 3 years to get a softball field? Why so long for a gym and classrooms? This little school is not going anywhere without a fight from the community! I would be more than happy to get things started, just need direction. Charter isn't a bad word, seems to be a very much needed one!
