I had 3 children attend this school. Our oldest has high functioning Autism. The administration refused to follow our son's IEP. Insisted on using their own "systems". We filed numerous complaints. The administration's only concern is test scores and raising money. They do what they can to push out students with disabilities while hiding behind standard programs to fulfill the special need requirement. The teachers did what they could but are restrained by administation. Our other 2 faired ok. They were bullied for not having brand name clothes & cell phones. If you have bright kids & wealth, or athletes this school is for you.

Have not had to work with very many support staff but we've had two excellent teachers thus far who care about our children. Also, I had one item worth discussing with the principal and he called me promptly and we had a valuable and honest discussion. Also, there's an American flag in the classroom and they sing the Pledge of Allegiance every morning which seems simple enough, but is noteworthy in this world gone mad.

The principal has disgusting behaviors and policies. The front office staff when asked questions like why are they detaining kids in the office 5 minutes prior to the bell to write tardy slips instead of letting them go to class cannot answer. The ladies in the front make fun of elementary kids for not knowing their parents phone numbers off the top of their head like my daughter wasn’t in 2nd grade and they don’t have the info. They jerk parents around for meetings to discuss this info just for an hour later to tell you it’s cancelled. The school ratings are due to the AREA of the school not the school in general. Worst teachers and technology in this area to be honest. There are other elementary options both public and private that the majority have opted for after trying this location.

A wonderful school, but lacking in support for children with learning and/or physical disabilities. I tried for a full year to get my son the necessary help for speech delay. That’s a full year too long. Teachers are very honest in admitting that the school pretty much pushes kids along as long as they are decently capable. It’s sad.

Love Oakview. More like a private school than a public school, but without the snootiness. Test score wise they are in the top 20 out of 600 elementaries in the entire state. But even better, you walk the halls and you can just tell how much they love the kids. My daughter is excelling here making straight As, while my son, who struggles, went from below grade level to above in a single year, which we credit the wonderful special Ed teachers with and his teacher who just loved him and fought for him. Lots of great memories here.

We have had a great experience at Oakview. Dr. Reavis is great, and the school has such a welcoming atmosphere. Parents are very involved, teachers have been great, and my daughter has thrived there. When she's sad to hear that it's almost summer (because she will miss school), I know they are doing something right.

Love this school and support. The teachers brought my child from a child with auditiory response delay to all A's and a B that was a pt from an A. A-B honor roll for two years. There are the right programs in place to have supported and corrected this. So grateful. Love and passion for teaching and learning are at Oakview. The school fair. The scjool is positive. The school is absolutely beautiful.

(Oct. 2014) This school used to be a much better school. Now it has degraded quite some. If you look at the PASS scores, this school is behind Monarch Elementary, and some other good schools in this area. If you look at the School reports, this school is not any better than other schools that have the same/similar students profiles/demography. The school committee (Principle etc.) seem to be more focused on Fund Raising than academic education. Some real experiences, 1) the school allowed a teacher to take a 8-week leave for a cosmetic (optional) surgery when it can be done at any Summer time, the substitute teacher was someone who works at Staples office store (seasonally); 2) the school would arrange a well-into-pregnancy teacher to teach for just a few weeks (from beginning of Fall to mid Sept.) and then go-on maternity leave for ~9 weeks with a substitute covering that time. In this situation, there should be a better arrangement for the benefit of everyone, especially for the innocent children! 3) Similarly, when a teacher was known to retire soon she was still put to teach and was only to be replaced right in the middle of the year - children are the ones who suffer!

Wonderful school! We could not be happier with OES on all fronts! We believe OES far surpasses private schools in Greenville. My third grade child is doing higher level math than our neighbors in same grade at two different, quite expensive schools. If you child is smart and can handle him/herself, he/she will excel at OES!

My 6 year old daughter and I moved from Detriot to Greenville after a TERRIBLE divorice and I was worried sick that my daughter would have a rough time in school. By about the 5th day of school she would come home with a huge smile on her face and talk about her new friends and wonderful teacher trust me, Oakview is WONDERFUL.
