I am really surprised by the negative reviews below. I can't help but wonder if the last one was written out of anger over the changing elementary school start times. While it is not true that the school does not have a second emergency access road (it does) and not true that children can't talk to each other at lunch (they can) I am most surprised by the categorization of the school leadership. I have never met a more phenomenal principal, and between my kids and multiple moves we have been at seven elementary schools. I have experienced nothing but warmth and a true dedication to educating all children inclusively.

Like most families, we moved to the Dover Sherborn School district for the schools. We have now come to find that school ratings are much more reflective of high schools, and rely on SAT scores, graduation rates, and college acceptances. The Dover-Sherborn school district woefully neglects their elementary school children. The elementary school in Sherborn is not even safe, and this is according to a multitude of town officials. It has a single access and egress road, meaning that the children get “trapped” at school when there is a snow storm or a fallen tree. This happened twice last year alone. It doesn’t take much of imagination to think about other emergencies where students might get trapped. The town, school committees, and superintendent have known about this situation for more than a decade, and they have not acted. If you cannot trust a school with the basic safety of children, how can you trust them with your child’s education?

Poor to mediocre. If you are looking for a nurturing, stimulating academic environment for your elementary school children where they develop a love for learning, keep looking.

This school is simply amazing. I was worried that a high rated school would focus too strongly on academics and less about the emotional aspects of growing up. This school is great on all levels! Great teachers, amazing principal, a school psychologist, Spanish extra, strong CSA and they truly enfore their values! They focus on respect and community and the kids perform at Friday's All School Meetings. It's been a great experience so far!

My children started at Pine Hill and went through the whole Dover-Sherborn educational system. Pine Hill gave them an excellent foundation and love of learning that continues to this day (they are both in graduate schools). The individual attention and caring emanates throughout the school.
