Shallotte Middle School is a great school. The students are well behaved. The staff is very accessible. They expect students to learn. Shallotte is a great town and the school reflects this. The PTO is very active. The PTO board raises money and has purchased extra smart boards for the school. The community and school work well together. Middle school is a time of great change for my child and SMS has been a great place for her. The SRO Gunnel is a real asset. He works with the students teaching responsibility and commitment to to others. GREAT SCHOOL!!

SMS is a wonderful school now since we have a great principal, but the bullying is still going on. I am only 6th grade, but I already know some words I probably shouldn't know until high school. I miss elementary school since they were so involved with my parents. Here in SMS, my mom doesn't even get newsletters of any sort! The teachers, though, are very nice! They don't mind that kids ask questions, but the don't tolerate nonsense. I have one teacher that is trying her best to communicate with our parents by sending newsletters, updates and other information. She is one of my favorite teachers. Over all, I was expecting SMS to be a lot better.... Oh well. =( )=

Not impressed with this school. There are a few good teacher's here, but for the most part unless you just go up there. Teacher's can't seem to get back to you about a simple question via email or phone. .....Would love to see better communication
