This school boasts many hours of support for special needs children via IEP but the QUALITY of support is highly questionable.

Positive school environment and culture. We had an issue with bullying and it was dealt with immediately by the administration. Strong emphasis on social-emotional learning and academics. My child has enjoyed his experience at svms and I would strongly recommend this school. The campus is safe and clean with lots of programs for sports and the arts.

The parents in this school have an overpowering control over the administration. The principal is below standard. Negative social setting. Very nice campus. Nice location. In need of leadership. Multiple students transfer out annually due to peer issues and a general lack of supervision.

A dangerous place for kids. Very scary social media influence at this school. Heavy peer pressure and very little if any administrative oversight. If you're one of the popular crowd they will cater to you. My son is still recovering from the abuse and discrimination. The principal should be removed now.

We've had very positive experiences with all four of our kids who've gone to SVMS. Great sports programs and coaches. A brand new campus is under construction at the site.

This school has been the most difficult and challenging time for my daughter... I feel bad that I sent her to this school and feel I have to help her cope with the implications and effects it has had on her. I feel the leadership lacks empathy and deep care for its students. They're negative judgmental women as opposed to positive understanding role models. It's a serious issue!

If your child is very into sports, and very extroverted and independent, then Scotts valley middle is a good school. If your child would do better at a school with lots of activities in the arts, science, math, music, etc., then I would not go to SVMS. Many public schools offer a wider variety of these activiities, esp in the silicon valley area. I do agree with the comments that this school tends to be very cliquish and there are way too many mean kids. More varied extracurricular activities would help solve this problem, allowing kids to find friends based on common interests and allowing other kids besides athletes to shine.
