I had a student who attended. Cons I echo the sentiment about having a child with special or different needs. This is 100% a school built for neurotypical children. I’d go even further to say, that for neurodiverse children of color there is a gaping hole in resources, knowledge, and support. They try, they just don’t have the expertise. It is a diverse school and they celebrate diversity a lot but sometimes I feel more so in form than substance. As a person of color, I have had a couple experiences that felt stereotypical and/or biased and it was upsetting. Pros The communication is excellent. This is with administration, teachers, and clubs. In general the staff is friendly and helpful. The extracurriculars and community events are amazing. PTA, Dad’s club and the other groups are very active. There are some phenomenal educators here, very dedicated and skilled. My child hasn’t had a “bad” experience with a teacher although there was an experience that in retrospect was not one I’d like to repeat. Meh - It’s a mixed bag for me with administration and leadership. I feel at times that leadership is too hands off when issues or incidents occur.

Roosevelt is an excellent school. The parents are very involved, lots of support from the PTA and dad’s club. Teachers and staff are friendly.

We sent our kids to this school and over the past 10 years it has slipped from a 9/10 to 5/10 on Great Schools. I mostly get the decline. PTA was run by SAHM’s 10-15 years ago and many working parents, myself included, were turned off by meetings and events held at 10am on a workday, mostly because we couldn’t attend. Result was that as those parents aged out and terrorized other school organizations in upper grades, big gaps were left in the Roosevelt committees and big fundraising events like the Fall Festival completely fell apart and are now a shadow of how good they used to be.Teachers- if you get a good one (yes, everyone knows who they are), it is an amazing experience and if you get a teacher that is checked out/unaware/unmotivated, it’s a messy and unfocused year that is full of frustration. Our daughter’s second grade teacher decided the school year was over around mid-May in 2020 and just ended all of the online schooling even though there were 3 weeks left of school. If your child has needs of any kind, whether social-emotional, learning-based, or are on the spectrum even a smidge, look elsewhere. This district and especially this school, is not equipped to manage or help families that need any extra assistance. The number of families that I know of that left the school and district due to lack of support for dyslexia, bullying, ADHD or ASD is mind boggling. Despite all this candid feedback, our overall experience was neutral-> positive. If our kidshad needed more support than they did we would have pulled and gone private in a heartbeat.

Surprised at the Great Schools rating because we've been more than pleased with how much our child has been advancing since kindergarten. There's a very involved parent community, great resources available and the teachers continue to challenge the students in the best way. Hope they get the recognition they deserve! It's a wonderful school.

Lovely school from K through 4th so far for our kids. They’ve thrived, made great friends, loved their teachers, learned to love to read. Nothing more that we could ask for.

Roosevelt has been a blessing to our children before, through and after the pandemic. Our children continue to thrive with the support of parents, teachers and the community as a whole. With the exception of one teacher we were not fond of (she lasted only one year), all of the other teachers have been phenomenal. Parent involvement is generous here and the students and the school benefit from the PTA, Dad's club, and other parent volunteers. I feel like the teachers are happy here and the students have genuine affection for the staff and teachers.

Great school. The teachers all care and the PTA provides funds for science labs, after school classes and field trips. My daughter gets to also participate in music and art classes.

My daughter started off at St. Leanders for the first 3 years of her education. With the economy change we had to put her into a public school. Washington Elementary was where she was placed due to our location. However with the low test scores of Washington we had the choice to move her to a different school. My husband and I picked Roosevelt. I'm very pleased that we did. My daughters 4/5 grade teacher was amazing. With her help my daughter got an academic achievment award. My daughter was able to do homework club to help her in the areas that needed more attention. I can say that her 4/5 grade teacher was the reason she loves to learn and continues to push herself everyday with her school work. Roosevelt is very family oriented and has such an enriched multi-cultural background. I will be sending my youngest daughter to Roosevelt as well.

Probably the best elementary in town but not that great. Just okay. I've had kids go there for 20 years.....yes.....I have a lot of kids and they are spread out in age. Its gone downhill in the past five years but the economy has too which hasn't helped the community or district.

I rate Roosevelt just "ok". My children have attended for several years and the experience has been inconsistent. On the positive side, there is a very active PTA and Dad's Club that manages to raise significant funds even in this challenging economic environment. They both help to fund after school activities and teacher supplies. Community events are well attended which fosters a sense of "family". However, the cliquish nature can be off-putting to many parents. The academics are fair, but not great. If your child falls in the middle they are pretty much left to fend for themselves. The school also has a pretty significant bullying problem that they only give lip service to addressing. The teachers are motivated and doing their best - but overcrowding is becoming and issue and I would not be surprised if it started to show in test scores.
