After trying 3 differenr schools in 4 years, we were so thankful we found Porter! My son has Dyslexia and mild ADHD. By the time we found Porter his academic self esteem and confidence was at a low . Not only did Porter remediate him up to level, his confidence is now high!! A lot of schools say they provide individualized learning, but turns out it's not the case. However, at Porter it truly was. He was placed in groups for each subject based off his level and learning needs. In some areas he was at or above level and some areas he was below level. But he never felt pushed aside or singled out. He was encouraged, placed in the right groups, and excelled. The Teachers and Administration truly care. We were there for 3 years and never had any concerns. Although, It wasn't without incidents. While minor, we believe any incident was handled properly. This left us with the confidence that our son was in a safe place with caring staff. We will truly miss Porter. If we could stay through high school, we would. My son is leaving with high self-esteem and confidence in his academic abilities!..

My son has really loved this school. He is excited to go each day, and the teachers are engaging. Truly a gem of a school.

Porter has made such a difference in our son's social and academic life. The school is small enough to give each student the help they need when they need it. Communication is amazing, and they are very agile as your child grows. My only complaint is we age out at 14. They should start a high school.

Porter Academy is more than a school, it's a loving, supportive, educational community. This is a wonderful place for children who have special needs.

Porter did not teach my child to read. They do not subscribe to documented reading programs. My money was wasted.

After struggling greatly at a public school (with IEP support), both socially and academically, our daughter is finally thriving at Porter Academy. The small class sizes, developmental homerooms and OT/speech support has helped her to find success at school. She is now understood and encouraged everyday.

After bouncing around several other private schools we have had amazing success at Porter. The school has does an amazing job of instilling confidence in our child.

I am thoroughly thrilled with my son's progress at Porter Academy. His first year (which is almost at an end), has been the best academic year for him ever. It's not easy finding a school that can teach children with learning differences. This school does that and more. I can see they care for and appreciate my child. They play to his strengths and they push him to overcome his weaknesses. Our parent visit to the school was like a breath of fresh air. It's a long drive for us, but it's completely worth it for the results we are getting with our son.

Porter is a school that is committed to the success of all its students. They understand kids have good days and bad days. They understand that what works for one child may not work for another. They make both the child and the parents feel secure and comfortable about their children's education. My daughter said to me "Mom I finally found a school that understands me".

Porter Academy is a 5 star school. We have been there since January 2017 and have encountered nothing but support, guidance, and kindness. We have become part of the Porter family, all the children know each other and all the teachers know all of the students by their first names. My son has made huge progress in the short time that we have been there and we are excited to see where the next school year takes him.

Our overall experience with Porter Academy was a very negative experience. My daughter attended Porter Academy for four years. 2017/2018 was our last year. I feel the best part of the school is the Occupational Therapy that is offered daily. The SLP is not a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist but rather has a degree in communications. Our experience with the Assistant Principal Was extremely negative. She made changes to my daughters classroom and education plan without communicating anything to us, the parents. She never followed through with her promises and classrooms are always, "under construction." She was non transparent with us, and was very vague in communicating what was happening in the classroom regarding curriculum. The lower school classrooms have the lower student teacher ratio however, the upper school classrooms do not offer the same ratio. The occupational therapy is wonderful however, If you are looking for a school with strong academics, I would look somewhere else.

Excellent. Probably the highest praise we can give is that when we drop off our son, we feel he is in a safe environment. (not always the case at other schools) We have been to 2 other private schools and while they were ok, they were not meeting his needs. Yes we want him to learn, but equally as important, we need him to learn life skills and appropriate behaviors. Our son came from another school where he was just going thru the motions. His behavior has had ups and downs during his time Porter (due to meds, puberty etc., and they have adjusted accordingly. We recommend Porter to any children where other schools aren't meeting their needs. If they don't feel your child is a fit..they will let you know.

Porter use Raz-Kids for their reading program. It does not teach your child how to read. It is fine as a supplemental tool. We discussed it with the teachers but it did not do any good. We found a new school.

We moved from Massachusetts and found the public school system was not going to be able to meet the learning needs of our daughter. We feel we are the luckiest people on the planet to have found Porter. The teachers and staff literally changed our school life around.

Porter Academy is an amazing school! Our son is wrapping up his 5th year at the school. During his time at Porter, he has been consistently challenged academically. We have seen a dramatic improvement in his sensory integration as well as his ability to monitor and regulate his sensory needs. We have seen his confidence and self-esteem repaired after a rough start in the public school system. At Porter, each student and his/her gifts and challenges are regarded on an individual basis. We have been thrilled with our son's success.

I love Porter Academy! I remember when I heard my son was accepted and it was the best news ever. This is the first year my son get up and is excited about going to school. I love the small class environment, the hands on assistance and he feels loved. The teachers and the staff are great, they have great communication skills.

I love this school! My son has special needs but is very high functioning, and he didn't fit in anywhere! When we found Porter Academy, he finally found the perfect setting to learn and build his confidence. The teachers are wonderful and foster a loving environment. The staff has provided fantastic facilities for the children and the students have a terrific physical education coach, a computer lab, physical therapy equipment, and a specially designed special needs gym with the best equipment. If you are looking for a school that can allow your child to learn at his or her own pace in a small, personal, social school setting, then this is the place for you!

My son is extremely bright, and high-functioning autistic. He has flourished in Porter's therapy-immersion environment, in just about every way. When we brought him there, we were so worried about his future, but the staff there is so amazing. And they even work very hard with the parents to get you the funding you need to pay for your child's education there. I cannot recommend Porter highly enough. I only wish it were located closer to our family.
