Sad. These teachers need to remember these kids are learning from you..... sad to think any kid would turn out like the teachers I have experienced there.

This school has a disturbing rate of teacher turnovers and our student was regularly taught by first-year teachers. The former principle failed to take parent concerns seriously and he showed very little follow-through in holding teachers accountable. He is now the principle at the middle school. We removed our students from this charter because of our disappointment and we are so glad we did. When we enrolled them about 5 years ago, the school had a Great Schools rating of 7 out of 10...now it's 4 out of 10.

I had three kids attend here for a few years. One teacher ran my student down each day. I witnessed her yell and berate other kids while volunteering. If she did that while I was there, what does she do when a parent is not around. Tried to talk with principle, no action. Took matters in to my own hands and moved all three to a different school- one of the best decisions I’ve made for them.

Parking is absolutely the worst ever. Crazy disrespectful parents in the parking lot. Stopping right at the back door to pick up their children instead of parking. Its insane.

Summit Academy North Elementary so far is failing my child. My child is in Kindergarten and the teacher my child has is absolutely horrible! No communication what so ever. Every day my child feels and looks defeated and is only 5 years old. It's pretty sad when a child that is 5 asks for a substitute teacher every day. I have voiced my concern to the office and principal with no solution in sight. Stop making kids feel like they are bad kids for being a kid!

reading some of the post here amazes me .. This is my second time around as I adopted .. So I have seen both worlds the public schools and now a charter school .. I will take Summit any day over the public school.. My daughter just finished the 4 th grade at Summit and I have loved every teacher she has had they have went out of their way to make sure I am happy as a parent and they all have let me know right away if my daughter needed to work on an area ... The last couple of years their has been more kids as a couple of schools closed and summit took on some of them .. And to be honest I think the problem comes from the parents as Summit is stricter then the public schools .. And parents of today are not as involved with their kids in school .. And they get upset when they get that phone call home I have seen a parent get mad at a teacher when their son took something that wasn't his and saying what it cost a 1.00 I will send it in on Monday instead of blaming the child for doing wrong .. It is my option this is what is wrong with kids today and their is only so much a teacher can do !

My grandson has been a student since 1st grade n now in the 4th. His teachers through the Years were very attentive to his needs in all subjects. The school sets very good standards for each class n the teachers help every child excellent in their learning abilities. I have a teen age daughter who attends Romulus public n gets all A's n B's n on the honor roll. That was not enough for her to get accepted into their school unless she repeat the 6th grade over in there school. Due to the high standards set wit the curriculum. I recommend Romulus Summit North Academy to all my friends n will never send my children to a public again. Keep up the excellent work. Sincerely a great full grandparent n parent.

After having our son go to Summit Academy all the way through third grade, we finally decided to pull him out and enroll him in our local public school. Summit may have had a good reputation for its academics at one time, but that is long gone. The school is overcrowded; get used to having your child in a split classroom of 60 kids. And since the split classes are between two grades (3rd and 4th, for example) your 3rd grader might end up doing 4th grade work, or your 4th grader might be doing work below his or her level. We've had mixed experiences, both good and bad with different teachers, but my son's 3rd grade teacher was especially terrible. She singles out students she doesn't like and treats them very badly. I have spoken to other parents who have had the same problem with her. The new principal is young and seemingly ineffective. When I requested they move my child to another class they refused. The problem with the charter school model is they are a business and they make more money by having as many kids crammed in as possible and paying less for their staff to maximize profits. That is not the academic experience I want for my children.

My son went to this school for the beginning of his 1st grade year. He was there a month before I pulled him out. The classroom being setup in the gym during construction was a big distraction. The kids were allowed to go to different stations to do work, without the teacher really doing any teaching. Most of the focus was put on a behavioral chart, and not on educating the children. My son would come home every day crying, or feeling bad about his self because he would get moved down the "behavioral chart". I saw his self-esteem plummet, and his desire to learn thrown out the window. This school did not work for us. Homeschooling has been the best option. Especially considering the poor options of schools in the area. If you're thinking about this school, proceed with caution. And also be prepared for you child to have A LOT of homework!
