I was in this program for all 3 years and had struggled with many mental illnesses throughout it. The programs teachers ignored me asking for helping and said I was making it up in order to not do work. Being told I was lazy due to something I couldn't help was very damaging. Many other students have trauma from the program and regret joining. The work load was too much and the math teacher didn't teach us for 2 years.

My son was straight As all the way through. My daughter struggled big time in 6th grade and now she is acing 7th grade but she has a tutor. Both kids had a fantastic time at band, best teacher in the entire school by far.

I echo the other review about Expeditionary Learning. It should have it's own review board here because it is So good and deserves better ratings. It "lives" within the LJMS campus but operates mostly independently. It includes monthly camping trips and other excursions, project-based learning, hands-on science and math, creative English and history and the students learn time management, research skills, English grammar/composition, sketching, note-taking and how to work in a team. It's a unique program well worth the time and expense.

If you are an involved parent and care about your student's success in the real world check out LJMS's Expeditionary Learning program. It's excellent and counters a lot of the complaints on this review board. It involves some monthly expenses and volunteering time but is worth it.

I was a student in Lawrence Jones, in 7th grade. In my previous school, Evergreen Elementary, I received very high grades. When I started in Lawrence Jones, however, my grades skyrocketed, FAST. The teachers group classes together, with no individuality, and no extra help from the students who need it. My best friend suffered from Aspergers, and was a MAJOR target of bullying, by many different students. Very few staff members chose to do anything about it. We had a single mishap, and we were almost villianized by the staff. She transferred to Tech, and the target of bullying very quickly switched to me. Once again, nothing was done.I will be transferring to Technology Middle School next year.-Audrey

Most teachers at this school do not do anything over and above to help kids that need the extra help. They brush them off to seek help from fellow students. You can have several meetings with the principal, counselor and the teachers to try to get and understanding or a plan for your child to succeed however, getting the teachers to follow a plan is another story. I will say, Dr. Mason & Mr. Johnson are awesome to work with with and have always been extremely helpful but it seems that the teachers blow off any if their suggestions to help or better your student. It has been a real struggle for our child. We are extremely disappointed.

The Administrators treated my children like criminals for the slightest infraction, my children are better off now that the are no longer there, infact their behavior is no longer a problem. This school needs to follow what progressive educators have been saying and proving for years stricter schools rules are never successful and rarely do they have anything to do with the education of the student body.

my school is not the best but at least the staff and teachers care about all the kids there may be teachers that none of the kids can stand but ljms is still an awesome school!! I am not sugar coding anything at times it does suck but theres also times when its awesome. ljms teaches us about life skills perserverance, integrity, discovery, and service. I have been a student at ljms for 2 years and I will promote this year! Lawrence jones is a fun and educational school!!

This school is great!!!..My daughter went here and she had wonderful grades, the teachers are nice and helpful but she did have complaints with 2 teachers Mr.Adams i recall she said. She said he was a very awkward teacher and she always had little remarks about him. Ms.Hawkins, who is a teacher...my daughter would come home and be very confused.She would say the teacher doesn't know how to explain so we would have to learn this online...luckily she passed her classes with A's and B's....She also didn't like another teacher but i can't remember the name.My daughter and i talked about this and she will be attending another school...you probably shouldn't send your kids here.

well not anymore.you parents.don't understand.it happens to kids alot when they go to new school and its a huge change.kids are getting worse so ljms is now making great rules.they have points were if u are bad u can't go to the dance or field trips so now kids are changing there behavior.the dress code is changing so your kids won't go to school like half naked.and the school is making great improvment.and i really can't wait.and if your kids getting f's then somethings wrong.they need to pay attenion.if they don't get something they should search it up but your kids just give up.my girl has been there and gets a's and b's.and there doing great and making great improvments :)

My son attended the Lawrence E. Jones school for the 6th, 7th and 8th grade years and has progressively went from passing to a total fail by the end of the 8th grade year with 4 "F" grades in every core subject: math, English, history and science. I've talked to the teachers, the counselor and attended all the open house nights and got no where. Then, at the end of the 8th grade, my son was officially "promoted" to 9th grade and received the promotion certificate which states that he has "satisfactorily fulfilled all the requirements of 8th grade" ( with 4 "F" on his report card and they refused to hold him back to repeat 8th grade as I have requested). My son hates school and begs to stay home. Now I have to keep him home to home school him to try to save him from a similar fate in High school.

This is a new school and they have many challenges to overcome. Merging together students of different economic and cultural backgrounds has been slow. The district is alost bankrupt so the class sizes are very large. The large size of the campus makes it difficult to monitor students. The facilities are also problematic. The air conditioning and heating system does not work properly. There are sidewalks that flood making it difficult to navigate areound. The back of the school building have mold or algea on them. Most of the teachers are great and have a wonderful raport with the students. The office staff is polite but overwealmed.

This school sucks! The teachers are really nice but the class sizes are just annoying! Most of the period the teachers yell and yell and never get to the point of the assignment. I was going to attend Twin Hills for this year but didn't i made a stupid decision! When the school was Creekside my grades were A's and B's, Now they are C's F's and D's. It's really not fair I am the quietest in every class always pay attention why am I failing!? I am really not happy with the way this school is run and would like to transfer out immeditaly! I always wonder what's going on at Twin Hills? Well I wouldn't know because I am stuck in this bad school! I am not happy with how this school is absolutely disgusted! >:(
