Great school. I will never regret moving to RC so my kids can attend Etiwanda School district schools.

Definitely would not recommend. Horrible experience here. Principal and staff not receptive. Excessive loads of homework. Numerous parents have experienced extreme amounts of bullying. The bullying is not dealt with in a rational manner. Unable to put on review what I would really like to say as it was taken down and it is monitored by the school district. So the reviews are not an accurate assessment. So much for freedom of speech. You will see for yourself, this school is lacking in numerous areas.

Overall, this school gets by easily. It has good teachers and HW and is trying to teach character. It supports students with learning differences very well. However, it leaves lots of room to be desired with anti-bullying and office leadership. This school has potential, but is certainly not top-dog. Overall, this school is not bad at all and I currently will recommend it. This is hugely due to the fact that there are few, if any bullies and the fact that it is in a ritzy neighborhood. However, DCIS kids are smart. The test scores speak clearly. Some can be mean, but will not go out of there way to be mean. Your child might not be fully welcomed, but the kids here are not manipulative(this is coming from a kid btw). Good luck with DCIS. From an 8th grader, 12/8/2019

This school has great potential, but the staff and administrators need to be overhauled!

Day Creek does have its flaws, like any other middle school. However, it has, in my opinion, the perfect blend of academic competition and fun. It’s an incredible school. I, myself, am a student in the graduating class. I do have to remind you not to discredit students at this school. Despite our young age (and the horrific grammar displayed by other student reviewers), I do believe that we have at least an ounce more credibility than our parent counterparts. Many times, parents get quite enraged when hearing their child’s slightly distorted complaints about their school. While some people can be jerks, the entire school has a great positive atmosphere that many people take for granted. I am proud to be a Day Creek coyote, and I hope that you see this comment out of the immense negative comments to let you know that Day Creek is a great place. Middle school is very well known to be the worst time of people’s lives, and while I cannot guarantee that won’t be true, and I can assure you that Day Creek will do its best to prevent it. Middle school is definitely tough for everyone, especially with our changing bodies and our need for self-discovery. This school will help you succeed, and it may not be perfect. But if I were to take a measure of how great this school is, I’d say about 90%. Don’t listen to those who focus on the 10%.

Do not get fool by scores. Teachers prepare kids for month for these tests. This school doesn't encourage positive attitudes, and does not have the proper budget for areas in electives, unless is music. The math teacher does science, math and art. Other schools in similar socioeconomic areas have proper art rooms and encourage learning with adequate budget in electives. Also your kids will eat lunch outside repetitively in tents set by monitors at lunch time. The school is run by an authoritative style from principal and office staff.

As a parent with two children who attend this school, I can attest to the high academic standards of the school. Both of my children have excelled at this school, and with the standards high, have risen to meet those. The school gives kids the tools to succeed, as well as provides enriching programs and activities. This is a middle school, and at every middle school you will find kids with bad behavior, and who are not kind to others. It is the unfortunate nature of this age/time in life. Sometimes kids are just not nice to other kids, and this has been going on since the beginning of time. As a parent you do what you can to bolster their self confidence and provide support, in dealing with kids who can be ill-spirited. We have not had any instances of bullying, but I do know that this is a huge concern. As far as bullying, the school has a zero tolerance policy, and is quick to act. My kids have a nice core group of friends who are all very good kids. I do also believe that while the school can help foster kindness, teaching compassion and respect starts at home, and is reinforced in the school environment. If you look at other middle schools, in comparison, Day Creek is heads and tails above. I speak from experience in this area, and without divulging too much personal information, the other school/schools I am comparing to, are failing the bright children that attend. This school is preparing my kids for high school, and for what is to come in life. The standards are high, the homework is tough, but kids are inspired to do/be better. They are taught to be responsible, and to work hard.

I would never recommend this school to anybody that I know. the school is filled with mean, entitled, manipulative students who do not tolerated differences, outsiders or anything else. The staff condones the behavior by ignoring it! They do not hold students accountable and they do NOT teach compassion or tolerance for anybody that doesn't "fit in"! And the school continues to make it the individual and the parents problem if there are bullying concerns.

Severe problems with bullying!!!!. Have talked with numerous parents who are having or had problems with continuous bullying at this school. Staff will turn a blind eye to any and all problems that arise. They will go to great lengths to protect the school reputation before protecting your child. Do yourself a favor and ask parents who have had children already attend this school, and you will find the same huge concerns.

This school is wonderful!!! Yes, they have very high standards, but shouldn't they? As a parent, my goal is to raise excellent citizens and scholars. Day Creek teachers and administrators widely supported these goals and provided the skills needed to excel there. I have one son at UCSD for engineering and another at Georgetown University for economics and finance. The folks at Day Creek were key components in their ability to get to this point. My youngest will start 8th grade next year. I am so excited for her to have the opportunity to interact with the fabulous 8th grade staff. Thank you Day Creek!

I have friends who have pulled their children out of this school due to bullying issues and decided to homeschool or transfer. After having my child attend here I have come to agree that the bullying is out of control and the school does not have a good handle on this serious problem.

This school is fabulous. They set high academic and behavior standards and teach the whole student. My third Day Creek child is entering the 8th grade. I can't imagine sending my children any other school due to the high standards, academic excellence and staff professionalism that embodies Day Creek.

I had several people tell me they were homeschooling their kids due to day creeks reputation and I had no idea until my daughter went there. I agree with everything parents are saying. The teachers do not help at all. I have called several times and talked to the teachers but they don't ever fix it. They just pass the kids thru the system and off to the next. we have so much homework a night, its hard when you work and have several kids. They have bullying and mean rich girls. they think its funny to slap or torment other kids. always during PE when there suppose to be a teacher. my daughter got kicked the other day in the stomach off the bleachers by a boy. I told the v.p and he will "investigate" but so far he called the 3 trouble makers in office, not witnesses or my daughter. He will try to sweep under the rug since schools almost over, but a boy who assaults a girl needs to be punished and a school who allows it also needs to be punished. this school is no better then any other school except its in a ritzy neighborhood and the parents have to basically teach or do homework with them..

Great administration, great teachers, and great students. The administration and teachers do all they can to help students succeed and encourage parental support and participation. Love being a part of the Day Creek family.

First, the front office ladies are extremely condescending, rude and unhelpful. I wonder if the principle ever listens to the way the front office communicates with parents? They speak to the parents as if we are bothersome students and they do so with a huge patronizing smile. Some of the teachers are egomaniacs at best. They refuse to admit when they've made a mistake and act like dictators. There's little connection between teacher and students because there's no communication. They don't want to hear it because they don't care about the student. However, I will say the facility is good if not great. The school care about protecting the students and safety comes first. The test scores are high becausse there are many bright and gifted students at this school. This is a reflection demographics and not the teachers. Their PE department is to be commended.

Both of my daughters attended DCIS. This is a very good school, mostly because it's a higher socio-economic area with involved, educated parents. The teachers are professional but if you fall behind, there will not be much help. Just make sure your kid is on top of things or you will be helping them A LOT just to pass. I was always able to get throught to staff or principals when needed. My only complaint was one grumpy lady in records who was not happy she had to do extra paperwork for my daughter's applications to private high schools. She still did it, but was pretty mouthy and unprofessional. I mean that's her job! That's my only negative experience in 8 years here.
